What if women don't need guys any more, and guys don't care?

Margaret Wente, one of the country’s best columnists, has written an interesting piece on the changing roles of men and women. It’s all about the fact that women are increasingly more successful — better educated, more ambitious, more focused – than men. “Women are flourishing in this new world, but many men aren’t. Men have always defined themselves as providers — it’s the main source of their identity. What happens when they aren’t needed as providers any more? What happens when their sense of purpose is lost? The answer is, they become unmoored. They stop being adults” She quotes from a book on the subject, The Richer Sex, by Liza Mundy: “I’m kind of losing hope in men,” one high-achieving woman told Ms. Mundy. “My husband and his friends, they just love being bachelors – they love to hang around and smoke pot.” Other women make similar comments. I’ve been thinking about the same subject off and on for some time. At first I was worried. There’s little question that women are making great leaps and bounds while men, especially younger ones, seem increasingly to coast through life.

Actually, I did hit that lottery. I just didn’t expect to have it ripped away, and trying to find anyone remotely as good as she was (or anyone, period) since has been impossible.

All of this is predicated upon legal favoritism and forced government set asides ultimately only made possible by birth control pills and abortion, i.e. it’s artificial so don’t go getting big-headed there, ladies. All this whining about men throwing in the towel when the system that benefits you so mightily is able to do so only by putting men at a severe disadvantage? Then to crow about it and through some flying backflip of logic blame men? Well, you’re either blind, stupid or full of it. Sorry to be so blunt, but face facts.

Good sex robots are only $12,000-$15,000, though I still say a good marriage is a desirable thing.

A good marriage is a more desirable thing. But it is also one hell of a lot more expensive.

Interesting. I am sure that there are plenty of parasitic women.

On the other hand, I can’t count how many married women I know whose husbands don’t feel the need to hold down a full time job. This is particularly true of women who are 10-15 years younger than I am.

There are also plenty of married women who would like to either stop working or take a less demanding job, but whose husbands are opposed. For some men, it’s the extra money. For others, it’s a status symbol to have a wife with a successful career and a certain pedigree.

Perhaps we all need to encourage a culture that supports both sacrifice and generosity.

They are trying to imitate MGTOW. Men are leaving women alone in droves. They are trying to make it seem women don’t need men.

Men arent crying about being single and having no kids. Men arent the ones that get cash and prizes divorcing.

"I don’t mind working for a living, but, given a choice, I could think of better things to do."

Guys only do what needs to be done. If that involves working 80 hour weeks, they'll do it. If that involves fighting and dying, they'll do it. Govt is making us unneeded so we find better things to do than work hard and take care of the home front. Don't worry, we'll be needed again one of these days soon - and we'll show up and get the job done. Count on it.

Maybe bringing back the Draft isn’t such a bad idea. Of course now that the Libs have destroyed the military as well, maybe not such a good idea.

Real men will become a very hot commodity if the pussies are found undesirable by the women.

Man up.

Oh, well. I try to take note of the person I’m replying to, as there are a few or more that are from the jackass or extra chromosome wing of FR trolls, and hence not worth the time or effort. I’m familiar enough with your screen name to know you don’t hail from that group. ;-D

Feminism and liberalism. Liberal women don’t want conservative men (and vise versa) and they don’t like the girly man/boys they created.

The cure to this nonsense is to create a closed, religious-social order. Elements of this already exist, such as with “megachurch” communities, where everyone in the community belongs to the church, follows its rules, lives and for the most part works in their community as well. Agreeing to uphold its moral rules.

Another element is found in the “Quiverfull” movement, where the driving imperative for married couples is to have as many children as possible. In turn this requires considerable frugality, and a disdain for many of the modern luxuries.

A third element is the assignment of marriage, and the “purposing” of those not fit for marriage for many reasons.

The assignment of marriage is that sufficient means exist for their support in the community: a place to live, a job for the husband, and other means of support so that they can raise a large family.

Those unfit for marriage or children must live outside the community, but are held up and admired for the work they do and contributions they make to support the ‘breeding’ families.
