The actual history behind the words to our National Anthem....our song, as an American.

And, why - as George Washington declared - 'we (the American Christian) will die on our feet, before we live on our knees'.

We will never capitulate and lay down the colors of 'that flag'.

Started to listen, but I stopped when I heard the speaker describe the War of 1812 as a fight between the colonists and the mother country. What?! Sorry, this man is ill-informed.

Every time that video is seen it ends in the same way...sadness, tears, and pride for our forefathers who gave all for US One of the most moving versions heard today.

The you tube posting may have good intentions but the narrative is historically wrong.

We were not "colonies". This was the war of 1812 and we were already the United States of America,

Also it is not fort Henry, it is Fort McHenry at the mouth of Baltimore harbor.

Still, it is a gripping narrative and worth the listen.

Thanks for that correction.

I missed that and was intrigued by the actual story of how lawyer Francis Scott Key attempted to negotiate the release of American prisoners, being held offshore, in a British ship...and the poem he wrote detailing that horrific night of bombing, that would later become our National Anthem.

Worth the listening, indeed.
