If there was ever a time for a competing league it is NOW!
There have attempts in the past.....the AFL became the AFC. there were others. Now is the time!
There are stadium football leagues and a UFL. Owners of NFL teams who are sick and tired of NFL and Goodell Bull Flop would be invited to bolt from the NFL.
I’ll bet that $1 was all that Trump asked....in other words...it wasn’t about the money.
I am done with the NFL and College is not much better. I would rather go to a local High School football game. The admission is usually around 5 bucks and a bag of popcorn and a beverage is less than 5 bucks. So for $10.00 I can watch a good football game and not have to be subjected to the cocky attitudes of the players and incessant advertising every where your turn. Everyone stands for the National anthem and I still have about $390.00 in my pocket over going to a Pro game. F#ck the NFL!!!
As I recall the players could decide what to put on their jerseys. Wasn’t there one guy called “He Hate Me?”
A lot of people, including Trump, have tried to do that on more than one occasion and they have all failed. Don’t like the NFL? Watch the other pro league, NCAA Division 1 football.
No,
I do remember the NFL world football league. Barcelona Dragons?
The league sued the NFL, not just Trump. And it was about the money, the USFL teams were deeply in debt, and a buck was all they were awarded because the jury decided that the leagues problems were of their own making. On the plus side, under anti-trust laws the award was tripled to three bucks.
That was the World League of American Football, or WLAF. They also had a team in Montreal, the Montreal Machine. I remember one season (this was shortly after the well deserved 1990 failure of the Meech Lake Accord), whenever “O Canada” was played before the home games at Olympic Stadium, it was booed by separatists in attendance.
You’re right. They did change their name later to NFL Europa.
If the NFL stops the anthem as a solution, the NBA and MLB will do the same thing. Then that will trickle down to all high school and club sports.
It is important when we gather for all events that we remember we are one in freedom under the flag symbolizing the best experiment in self-governing the world has ever known. We pause a moment before engaging in “serious play” and youthful competition to give thanks both to the nation in abstract and to all those who have served and sacrificed to KEEP our nation. For us.
I am passionate about keeping the anthem at sporting events. I believe these rituals KEEP us American. We are halfway between the earthy animals and the heavenly angels and we need rituals, sensory actions, to keep us. Imagine religion with no rituals. It’s nothing but air. WE NEED TO PREVENT a major sport from doing away with our anthem and flag as “divisive.” It is a shot to the heart.
Theyre protesting the same thing BLM is protesting, alleging that police single out blacks for abuse.
Most of the recent examples given are thugs basically begging for harsh treatment. The few that are out and out brutality that happen to be against black people are dealt with correctly, like the cop in North Charleston who murdered the guy running away. BOOM he went down for murder.
The problem with BLM and this knee protest is that LIFE FOR BLACK SUSPECTS IN THE USA HAS GOTTEN BETTER EVERY DECADE. These kids weren’t around in the 1980s. Or the 1960s. Or the 1940s. It’s worth discussing, but perspective is needed. The country is growing FAR less racist against blacks, steadily.
Maybe people would be less upset if they also realized, blacks are being used by the media for a goal blacks probably don’t want. Don’t fall for it. Look at the stats. Police brutality is a problem, and should always take some focus, but it’s only a few cops who are bad, not half or even a quarter. And focus on the victims of brutality. Stats don’t bear out that victims are mostly black. It’s not true. We all know stories of cop use of extreme force against nonblacks that don’t get media attention. Black Americans should be mighty sick of being used as tools because they are considered predictable and will get up in the country’s face over something, if properly provoked into believing their fellow Americans are racist against blacks. THINK. Are you being used for a socialist plan?? Are you more useful in your protesting to OTHERS or to your community?? THINK ABOUT IT. I hate being used as a pawn in someone else’s game!
“Just a thought. Let those capable of making this happen, go for it.”
My thinking exactly. How about “American Patriot Football League” APFL?
Yes, and two others labeled "We Hate He"!
Yep.
