The league sued the NFL, not just Trump. And it was about the money, the USFL teams were deeply in debt, and a buck was all they were awarded because the jury decided that the leagues problems were of their own making. On the plus side, under anti-trust laws the award was tripled to three bucks.

No, he was hoping for a huge judgment that would force the NFL to enter into merger talks. Legally he was proven 100% correct, the NFL DOES violate antitrust laws.

But the jury full of New Yawkahs had their minds steeped in Socialism. One of them actually said after the verdict was given that "we just didn't think that Donald Trump needed any more money."
