So the local Miami media just reported 150 NFL players acted the fool yesterday.
I did some quick math.
53.players multiplied by 32 teams =1.696 players. 150 players divided by 1,696 players = less than 9%.
Okay. So fire the ones who did.
So in 2009 the NFL creates a rule to require teams on the field for the anthem. Tim Tebow gets the bum’s rush out of the league a few years later. Now the inmates are running the asylum. Bet there’s a backstory here...
Like has been said on Fox news this morning.
Last year when 5 cops got shot in Dallas, the Cowboys wanted to wear patches honoring them.
Goodall wouldn’t allow it.
Some BS about not wanting to be political.
Well Freeper, the NFL as well as the NBA decided this was a great political subject to go off on.
I watch baseball. Not for some political crap.
Last week 6 players took a knee - four-tenths of one percent. Trump makes a scene of it and now it’s ten percent.
Be sure to read the comments.
The league passed the rule requiring teams to be on the field for the anthem back in 2009. They had to codify that. Trump wasn’t POTUS then. What do you suppose necessitated the rule? This BS has been going on for a while. All Trump did was call them on it.
There's nothing in the NFL Rulebook requiring players be on the field for the National Anthem. Article 8 of Rule 5 says that personal messages are not allowed, so there might be grounds for punishment under that.
LOL. Yeah, Trump’s fault. Point out bad behaviour, bad behaviour increases, ergo the one who pointed it out is to blame.
Riiiight.
I wasn't blaming anyone, just correcting an error. The USFL was a train wreck before Trump bought the Generals and even he wasn't enough to save it.
If this generation doesn’t care about football, then I guess those were all empty seats disguised as fans on the college football telecasts this weekend...
That number includes only the players who were on the field and sat or knelt, not the entire teams -save one Ranger Villanueva - who stayed in the tunnel or locker room during the playing of the national anthem.
Rebuttal: What other product having a 10% defect rate would you find acceptable on a regular basis? Would you be ok with your car not starting 10% of the time? How about every tenth quart of milk being sour when you open it? Etc.
I hope you don’t think I was defending the thugs taking a knee. The NFL has been ignored in my life for about three or four years now...I was just crunching the numbers.
I don’t think every player in the NFL is a jerk, though.
Not at all. My point was that we can’t crow that it was “only” 10% of players (not counting entire teams, as others have pointed out) wrecking the day. Kapernick wrecks the day by himself. Ten percent is more than enough to wreck most things.
I stopped watching the NFL last season when the NFL refused to allow Jerry Jones owner of the Dallas Cowboys to have 30 seconds of Silence in honor of the 5 assassinated Dallas LEOs.
If I were a team owner I would simply order it done, with no asking of permission from anyone. It's easier to get forgiveness than per mission.
IF every NFL player & media hawk thinks that things are SO OPPRESSED in the USA today-—let them take part of their enormous salaries-—including you, Little Georgie Stephanapolous-—and find a black kid worth of getting a decent education & YOU pay for their college education. The whole ticket-—tuition-books-dorms—spending $$. Not to even mention the “blakcs only colleges in the USA....
MY Dad was in the printing business. His company did textbooks for USAFI. I never saw a textbook that was ONLY printed for white kids-—or a desk—or a pen—or a pencil—or a 3 ring notebook & paper—or a study lamp—or a protractor—or a ruler—or a teacher—or any of the normal things that students use. The books & other materials were all the same for the black kids. So I am more than tired of all the ‘we didn’t get an education’ from the Blacks. The education was there-—free—& PAID for by taxpayers like me.
I never had any kids—or grandkids. I have owned 4 houses since May 1966, and some of them overlapped. I have paid property taxes for more years than I am alive—almost 78 years old—and I sure would like a refund of the school part of those taxes. The taxes on my Dad’s house alone were over $2000 a year & half of that was ‘for the schools’. I & my brothers went to a one room school—no running water—outhouses out back—and a merry go round to play on at recess. I am pretty damned sure I have paid for more than MY share of the ‘education’ of kids who didn’t gain a damn thing from my payments. My Dad died when his Soc Sec was $252 a month—so I paid his taxes for a very long time.
Quit clamboring at people like me who actually DID attend the grade school & high school offered to me-—did the homework—graduated with my class (60 years ago)—and have worked for the last 60 ++ years at a number of jobs, mostly bookkeeping & accounting.
I went back to night college classes when I was 29 & spent 4 years working full time & overtime and took the accounting classes. Got a 4.0 in every class I took. Did NOT have a social life during those 4 years, either. I set myself up for better & more responsible jobs, and did bookkeeping at night for very small businesses-—mostly one owner/operator types. By the time I was 40, in 1980, I quit working at a location & desk in only one place & went out on my own——with $69 in the bank & all my current monthly bills paid ahead. I never went back to work for only one client. I PAID FOR EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR OF THAT EDUCATION. NO grants—no other support & I already owned my own house.
I now own this property—all my vehicles—all my furniture & household goods—and my horses & gear. I also must mention that I am female & I was married for a TOTAL of less than 5 years in my life, so this money was earned by ME-—not a husband. That means that I often earned much less than the arrogant male co-worker who sat in the desk next to me.
Therefore-—ether put up or SHUT UP, you pampered, overblown jerks...Including you, Little Georgie. None of you know what it is to work a 40 hour/52 weeks a year job and you also don’t work a 2nd job, as I have many times.
Already am—
Spent yesterday cleaning out kitchen cupboards & re=-organizing closets.
Next Sunday, I will bring 4 saddles into the living room & clean & oil them.
Ah, the USFL. Personally I liked the XFL, if only for their players' names...
