PASADENA (CBSLA) There was something missing at Pasadenas Apple Store for the Friday release of the iPhone 8 a line of eager fans.
Previous releases of the iPhone attracted hundreds of Apple fans waiting in the early morning hours at several stores across Southern California.
The Apple Store has a ticketing system, but that never stopped eager iPhone fans from camping out overnight.
But on Friday morning, all was quiet on Colorado Boulevard, except for employees inside the store handing out tickets.
STORY: Apple Unveils 3 New iPhone Models
The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus touts new features like wireless charging, new camera features, and a faster processor.
The lack of a line may be due to more people waiting for the November release of the iPhone X, which has a more drastic redesign.
The updated Apple Watch and Apple TV also went on sale Friday.
You mean like their computers?..............
“The lack of a line may be due to more people waiting for the November release of the iPhone X,”
What marketing study genius devised this splendid plan, other than the folks at Samsung?
Yes. Basically like all of their products, now.
They somehow went from a business model of making a product that was simple and intuitive to a business model of making an overly-complex, privacy-invading, crap-filled product they force down the customer’s throat, where the customer is always wrong and they are always right.
For as big of an Apple fanboy as Rush is, he’s not doing them any favors! All this week he talked about NOT getting the 8, and waiting for the X!
I don’t have a dog in this fight; I still have a flip phone and JUST bought myself a tablet (Fire 8) and I’m not sure I’m going to get all that much use out of it!

“Heard It On The X”
Do you remember
back in nineteen sixty-six?
Country Jesus, hillbilly blues,
that’s where I learned my licks.
Oh, from coast to coast and line to line
in every county there,
I’m talkin’ ‘bout that outlaw X
is cuttin’ through the air.
Anywhere, y’all,
everywhere, y’all,
I heard it, I heard it,
I heard it on the X.
We can all thank Doctor B
who stepped across the line.
With lots of watts he took control,
the first one of its kind.
So listen to your radio
most each and every night
‘cause if you don’t I’m sure you won’t
get to feeling right.
Anywhere, y’all,
everywhere, y’all,
I heard it, I heard it,
I heard it on the X.

Arrives today per UPS.
No need for me to drive to an Apple or other phone store to get my hands on one.
Sorry to disappoint the reporterettes and their photogs, having nothing to show but a finger touching Enter.
Plus a new two year contract
No thanks . . I’ll ride month to month for the foreseeable future
Can we say Apple has Jumped the Shark?....................
They might have with certain groups.
Our adult sons, grandsons, and nephews are active guys with the adults with real jobs not desk jobs. So, they carry their phones and have leveled off at the Apple 5 or 6’s that can fit into a shirt or pant pocket or clipped to their belt to their work pants.
They use their smartphones to make phone calls, texts, send/receive emails and take a picture now and then. Googling a question is a priority and can be done with any smart phone. The new phones have zero advantage over their 6’s.
Our older women relatives like the larger phones as they can carry them in their purse or fanny packs. Again their needs are similar to the men in their families. With the larger phones, they can text and email a little easier. However, with the exception of the cult factor of owning the latest and biggest I phone, there is no real need to trade up.
One of our the more “cultier” adult female relatives has a freshman in college and another coming up. Her husband told her to get a real job if she got a new Apple and Ipad and pay for them. She is staying with her old 7 phone, Ipad and fun part time job. Their college freshman was told not to break nor lose her I phone 6 or 4 year old Ipad. If she did, her new phone would be a Tracfone android with the old number and an Amazon Fire Tablet something happenes to her old Ipad.
I do not see him much urge to go from the 7+ to the 8+. The X is a different matter. Personally, I may go for it.
Try killing applications in the background, and reducing the brightness of your display. I find the battery life on the 7+ and the previous ones, very exceptional. But having lots of applications and a very bright screen, do impact performance.
And Cook creampied
I use a 7 plus and my setting and background apps are as before the os11 upgrade. Why should I compensate for an Apple problem?
In all versions, I get lots and lots of battery range. The challenge is if you have brightness set to highest range, when not needed is wasteful. Also, if you have a dozen apps running at the same time or if you let everything track and report your whereabouts. I can run my iPhone 7+ several days without charging, definitely a full day with heavy use. Same with my iPad Pro. Just got to realize the battery is not unlimited. (And if you think the battery is not holding up as you think it should, drop by the Apple store and have them test it. We did this with our older phones, they verified in our case that the batteries were still fine.). Anyway, not defending Apple, but I find the phone has lots of battery and I never face it dying during the day (unless I forget to charge it periodically.)
And by the way, what Apple problem do you suggest for the battery? I sure don’t see one and see no discussion of one anywhere. Maybe you have a defective phone?
The hardcore are waiting for the X
ZZ Top, one of the BEST concerts I’ve ever been to. We all dressed up in long black coats and boots and beards. It was a blast. :)
We even have a hound dog named, ‘ZZ Top.’ ;)
I saw them in ‘76 in Raleigh, NC with Lynyrd Skynyrd.......................
“As with my computer, there’s no real reason up buy a new device until my current one gets tired and worn out. They’ve pretty much run out of “compelling” new features to put in the things. “
Yeah that covers it for me. My last iphone is still working my 2nd gen ipad is getting the job done still. No reason to upgrade until something dies or the battery gets intolerably short.
Still, I don’t know why people are bitching about THIS upgrade being small... all the iPhone upgrades have been small incremental improvements.
