After pouring hot sauce into his eyes to keep himself awake no longer worked, Army Pfc. Alex Blum began snorting chewing tobacco. When that failed, he cut his earlobe with a knife.
Still, after being pushed to strenuous physical activity for over 30 hours, he could barely keep his eyes open.
The months he spent training to be an Army Ranger tormented him physically and psychologically, and left him changed as a person. They may even have turned him into a bank robber.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
That's a little extreme, I simply carry a photo of Hillary in my wallet........
I’m over 40 and I do OK on two or three hours a night for a week. It doesn’t take much to keep you going and unless someone is actively preventing it, you will start picking up a little here and there.
Agreed. Either that or the guy mental issues before he even got to MEPS.
I fell asleep at Parade Rest.
Once.

LOL...Sounds of a DI swarm wake ya up ??
We’re looking at a guy that is now a convicted felon. Felons tend to blame everything & everyone but themselves (kinda like Hillary, but I digress). So should we be surprised that a stray comment by this guy gets amplified by a writer with a ‘particular world-view’?
Once.

I used to copy Morse Code and it would lull me into a 'comatose state'.
Could also hear 'music' while copying.
I have been know to say::
"I don't go crazy , i am crazy , i just go normal from time to time"
Not only copied code 'well' but also volunteered for subs.
I used to say I was sane and had the paper to prove it but as I got older I realized those tests to see if you were able to sink yourself in a steel tube, swim 20 miles with 50 pounds on your back, or jump out of perfectly sound aircraft were administered to see if one was CRAZY enough to do it.
Sorry not buying it. If 30 hours without sleep makes you a criminal every intern at major hospitals would be doing armed robbery.
When did we become a nation of morons?
The drill sergeants ordered us from the beginning to do pushups until the drill sergeants were tired. Near the end of 13 weeks of total control, we finally understood what that meant. We dogs were then happier on all fours, and the drill sergeants were tired. ;-)
Pretty much.
Those were the days.

LMAO .....
