The first Le Mans with the GTO package was sold in the late spring of 1964. I drove a friend’s that his father gave him for a high school graduation present. I got to run it through the gears repeatedly when it only had 1,500 miles on the odo. Three dueces and a four speed. And, of course, 389.

When I see a Grand Prix all I can think of is Pimpmobile.

Eldorado is the quintessential Pimpmobile! Although, some Italians I knew had some very classy, tastefully done ones in the 70s and 80s.
And the late 1960s, very early 70s, eldorados were absolutely classy.

No. They are in a different class. Corvettes existed before “muscle car” became a fad with the car companies which started with GTO Tempest.
Most of us AACA-type car nuts don’t consider it “muscle” in the collectible sense. It’s a race car more along the lines of Porsches and Ferraris, albeit “lower grade” perhaps.

Oh yeah, I know they’re not yours being multiple cars. You just like them. I tend to use the possessive when I really like something.
Galaxie came out of the Fairlane model, a sort of subset or offshoot.

I know theyre not yours being multiple cars. You just like them. I know I didn't say it, but all or most of the photos I posted were in response to other people's choices for favorite muscle cars. ie, I simply posted photos of the car they said they liked best. I like them all. Hard to pick a favorite, but I might go with the GTO, 67-68 Mustang fastback, 69-71 Road Runner/GTX, 70-71 Challenger and Cuda.

Oops! I wasn’t reading that far.
It is hard to choose. I wouldn’t sneeze at being given any as a gift.

Never could get those taxi cab/police car hubcaps and rims on some of these Mopars. Otherwise, gorgeous cars. Among the very best.

It was marketing to reduce invoice cost as the assumption was aftermarket wheels were considered certain

When I think of what I would have for a “retirement” nest-egg, I might have kept a couple of my cars from my 20’s. Watching these Barrett-Jackson and Mecum Auto auctions makes me want to cry.

It was marketing to reduce invoice cost as the assumption was aftermarket wheels were considered certain. I understand. It's like the crappy headphones that come with a mp3 player or smartphone.
