A new study has shown that most men reach their boring peak at almost 40 years of age, as this is when they have completed many of the things which people deem to be exciting tasks.
The research was carried out by home rental site Airbnb, who surveyed 2,000 people in the UK as part of an attempt to work out the optimum age for boredom and excitement.
According to their results, people are most likely to be be trekking across the desert, dancing on bar counters or taking up base jumping at the age of 27, and become more dull when they take on more responsibilities after entering their 30s.
Women, however, allegedly reach their optimum age of "boring" earlier than men, with the survey suggesting they become dull at just 35 years old.
According to those polled, things that make people fun include: Staying out until the early hours on a weekday, trying a new hobby, going out of the way to make a new friend, booking a spontaneous holiday, learning a new skill, visiting a friend unannounced, changing jobs, going on a spontaneous shopping trip, asking someone out on a date, and trying a new sport.
No, most of it was in Wyoming. Lived that life for about a year back in the 70’s. Friend of my dad had a large ranch and I traded line work for a trappers shack. Wouldn’t trade the memories/experiences but it was kind of rough at times.
Amen, great post.
retired from rugby last year and started trad rock climbing after, at 41 I am just getting started!
“Most women start losing their looks at 27.”
About the same time they lose their looks, they find ice cream.
Don't even talk like that! ... married 45 years, and just kidding.
But seriously, we seem to be hitting a mellow period here, with the GK's and all. My life is good.
If it involves no sleep and dancing on bar tables, I’m good with boring!
Yeh its called the reality of the drudgery of working and taking care of a family and other responsibilities. No time for base jumping and closing up bars. :-)
Rocket science.
I did eight out of the ten in the past couple of months and I'm over 65.
"Taking up knitting" does not qualify as "trying a new hobby." "Hitting on the old broad in the grocery store line" does not qualify as "going out of the way to make a new friend." "Checking-in at a sanatorium" does not qualify as "booking a spontaneous holiday." "Getting fired and thus becoming unemployed" does not qualify as "changing jobs." "Finally figuring out that you're supposed to swallow the stool-softeners" does not qualify as "learning a new skill." "Going to a funeral" does not qualify as "visiting a friend unannounced." "Making a mad rush to WalMart when you discover that you've run out of 'Depends'" does not mean "going on a spontaneous shopping trip."
All in good fun!
Regards,
How about “British”?
...surveyed 2,000 people in the UK ...

I’m amazed that 2,000 twits in the UK can predict with such clarity when men and women generally become boring. /s
I’m guessing the people doing the survey and those that responded were probably early 20s in age... meaning that they have just started to experience adulthood.
At that age most sociopaths are either dead or imprisoned.
...Im laying on my bed in a dark room listening to the NASCAR race on radio...

Don’t know your age, but to me that would be super boring; even worse than watching NASCAR races on TV.
Nothing personal about you. I just find the races to be very boring and gave up watching them years ago when they stopped the auto makers from entering muscle cars with souped up engines.
Stock car racing was entertaining as it matched the various auto mfrs. against one another. The ridiculas NASCAR rules essentially just require every car to be the same and only tactics and luck to avoid crashes determine a winner.
Good posting! ...I, too, have hair growing faster in my nose and ears than on top of my head!
The good thing is, as I get older, I am less inclined to give a crap if anyone likes or dislikes what I do. It is kind of liberating...:)

At 75, I fully agree! Just don’t feel the need to conform. I let my beard and hair grow for months before I cut it all off and don’t give a damn what people in the stores, bank, etc. think when I walk in with a ball cap, jeans and a pull over shirt. ...I’m not anti-social; the workers at my Albertson’s all know me and we are friends. I’m just at a stage in my life where I wont take any crap from others and intervene when I see it happening to someone else.
I can’t disagree with you. I’ve not lost total interest, but between the TV package that has most races on cable (don’t have) and the goal of IROC level parity, it sure ain’t what it was.
Fun. Fun, fun, fun.
I became a better man once I stopped focusing on fun and starting focusing on family. That probably makes me boring.
“Ah, you are the one that was said to be a 70 something year old woman. The bitter is strong in you. “
Lots of fake news on the internet.
Got ya beat.
As a kid I would record the Indy 500 on a cassette and listen to it over and over.
Got to the point that I memorized the cars by their engine sounds.
