Camping World CEO Backs Down After Telling Trump Supporters to Shop Elsewhere
DownTrend ^

Posted on 08/26/2017 4:40:22 AM PDT by TigerClaws

From the “you just had to know THIS was coming” department, the CEO of the recreational vehicle and equipment chain Camping World is already backing down from statements that he made suggesting that some supporters of President Trump should shop elsewhere.

The remarks of Marcus Lemonis have come back to bite him in the ass big time as he seems to be finding out just how many millions of dollars that his loose tongue and arrogance could cost him if Trump supporters took his advice and spent their hard-earned dollars at businesses owned by competitors.

Now he is claiming that it was all a big misunderstanding and that he ONLY meant the neo-Nazis and white supremacists which according to CNN – there are 63 million of them.

Pity about Overton’s. They’re based in Greenville, North Carolina down near the coast. Nice old outdoor oriented direct mail catalog business, been around for many decades, on up there with LL Bean.

I wonder how big of a collective groan emanated from Overton’s when they heard what their genius CEO had said? I wonder how many of them voted Trump? Probably a majority since Greenville, NC is in Pitt County and Pitt County went Trump as did the majority of coastal counties in NC, and as did the state as a whole.

You can’t help wondering if such bad judgment negatively impacts the products he sells.

Real campers and RVers don't shop at CW anyhow - too expensive and they don't carry the right equipment.

CEO looks like he would be scared to death camping! City slicker, Hollywood wannabe, that one.

It may well come from hiring MBA grads from Ivy League business schools.

Go there fill up a couple carts. Have them ring it all up. Then say, “ oh I just remembered, I voted for Trump, you don’t want my money”.

Don't forget to take photos of that cart to share on social media.

“We really believe that we have the foundation to be an outdoor juggernaut… Our ultimate goal is to have an outdoor lifestyle center, in a perfect world, that has RVs and RV accessories and RV service. It would have an Overton’s department that is made up of everything on the water. It would have an active sports department similar to what The House offers. And it would have the historical hunting and ammunition department that Gander did. And the best way to think about it visually, when you walk into the stores, it’s going to feel like a co-op of multiple brands that have excelled in their specific categories and are assorted by and merchandised by the folks that have the most amount of experience in those specific categories.”

Too late for that now A-hole!

Yes, the parent company of Camping World is Good Sam Enterprises. Good Sam Enterprises is buying Gander Mountain in a bankruptcy transaction.

Marcus Lemonis is CEO of Good Sam Enterprises and Gander Mountain.

He also owns a “significant” part of all these companies, so the various boards of directors might have a hard time firing him. Even so, the unaffiliated “ordinary-folks” shareholders aren’t going to be happy if the earnings collapse because the companies are run by leftist morons.

The board of Apple somehow managed to oust founder Steve Jobs, way back when.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way and the board of Camping World needs to find it.

LL Bean has great products. They put food on the table for a whole lot of Mainers.

As a bonus, Linda Bean ticked off the libs with her support of Trump.

Yeah, but I read that the race car driver fell for his non-apology apology.

Camping World just bought Gander Mountain/Overton’s sporting goods stores.

************
Gander Mountain went in bankruptcy earlier this year.
Overton is into water sports equipment.

So it seems Camping World is expanding their holdings
outside of Recreational vehicles.

Just read his wikipedia entry. From that, seems like he’s angling for a celebrity political career. He was even on The Apprentice to pose one of their challenges!

It appears he couldn’t care less about campers or stockholders. Foreign-born too. Seems he cares only about The Thoughtless Liberal Hollywood Never-Trump Narrative.

Camping World, I believe, is the sponsor of the NASCAR Truck series. . .Lemonis must have gone brain-dead. . as he otherwise appears to be pretty smart on his “The Profit” CNBC serires.

Camping World and Gander Mountain can kiss my $$$$$ goodbye. There are many other purveyors of such outdoor gear. I hope they bankrupt. Screw’em.
