Elon Musk has posted the official first photo of his SpaceX space suit on Instagram, teasing that more details will come in a few days. Musk says the suit actually works, and was tested to double vacuum pressure. The suit itself is very white and very spacey, and Musk acknowledges that it was incredibly hard to balance the suits look and its function.

I'm just fine with the first example, the stripes are perpendicular to his upper arm. But, lest there be any confusion ...

It’s very cute. I wonder how it’ll hold up in an explosive decompression.

From what I can gather its a misleading term. What is being postulated online is that the standard internal pressure of the suit was doubled while in vacuum to test against bursting. Sounds correct. Probably a 29.4 psi pressure differential, rather than normal sea level of 14.7 psi.

The stripes look cross-hatched to me — That’s probably a photo artifact. I’m quite sure that they’re actually horizontal.

No astronaut in their right mind would put that suit on.

Probably twice standard atmospheric pressure or 29.7 psi inside against a vacuum outside, or three times standard atmospheric pressure or 44.1 psi inside to standard atmospheric pressure outside. Consider that the pressure in most automobile tires is about 32 psi.
