A cameraman once told me that clouds were God's scrim. They certainly were when I was videoing a partial solar eclipse in my backyard. This is from many years ago. The music is Helmut Wobisch.
It’s storming in Charleston SC. Schools businesses closed and hotels packed for the big event due at any moment.
An unnamed source at CNN, or possi ly the AP or the NYT, are reporting Brian Williams has gone completely blind from staring at Hillary Clinton.
I’ve got some dark clouds over me up here in Columbia.
A little bit ago, I took a peep through the glasses and saw some of the show.
Now heavy clouds are blocking Mr.Sun and I’m not really concerned.
There is a prop job buzzing around me way up there but he’s under the clouds too.
Oh well, Mark Steyn is on and I get more from him anyway.
Excellent rumor. Must be true with those sources. We should contribute to a fund for his medical care. Or is it mental care?
Isn’t this nice? - One day where no one is protesting - Tomorrow back to the new normal.
I remember when the Moon shot down Brian William’s helicopter in Iraq.
Or maybe it was Brian William’s helicopter shot over the Moon and he picked up a rock.
Either way, it was good he was there at the signing of the Declaration of Independence and snapped a shot, with his Polaroid, of the gang playing basketball afterwards.
Not good videotaping clouds here. But when the sun goes behind the cloud it works better than the glasses if the clouds are thin enough. Boston area.
It was cloudy up until the total eclipse then it cleared.
I had the experience but gave up part of a Bonanza rerun though.
Now there is a light rain.
I half looked into getting a solar filter but couldn’t find any that fit my particular lens size.
The spouse is at the ballpark near downtown and reports all went well and clear sky. I’m glad she got the show she wanted.
I have remote control PTZ head that can go at a turtle’s pace. The type is variable speed.
It’s been a couple of years since I used it for anything maybe.
Here is an example.
Doing smooth pans and tilts are a whole lot easier than I can do handheld. Rarely, if ever, any noticeable jitter on my GH4.
Some people are acting like this is a big deal, the end of the world. I just saw one headline “Cows Lay Down in Fields”. That is not so abnormal. I
bet you will also find that in the main path with full eclipse many chickens laid eggs twice today. I seen it happen when I was a kid on stormy days when it got really dark. No doubt though some nut will put out a headline “Chicken Lays Twice on Same Day, Is This a Sign of the End?
That close...you could have viewed totality in less that 50 miles
I didn’t know that. I lucked out in that I was at the MA house while husband was at the NY apt. He’d have thrown fits if he’d seen me aim the camera at the eclipse, even with clouds. But it worked, and the lens didn’t burn out.
The time to worry is when the cows lie down on the eggs.
In Michigan I did not see an eclipse . . . therefore, it didn’t happen. They lied!
