Then why do people seitch?

Fluctuating levels of testosterone.

If you find yourself thinking gay sex is okay, that immigration should be unlimited, that Obama was a great President, time to talk to your doctor about your T-Levels.

Low IQ and Narcissistic Personality Disorder contribute to a tendency toward liberalism. Other than that, political views are too complicated to be identified with genes, and this guy who gets lots of play by being “transgressive” isn’t to be taken all that seriously.

Genetics?

LOL! What? Dont overthink it, Mr. Peterson. It’s called an ideology not geneticology.

He makes some very good points. But I believe Bill Whittle boils it down even better: Bill Whittle recently said in his "What We Believe" videos (which I heartily recommend to anyone identifying as a conservative, and anyone not identified as such who is curious about conservatism. I watched it with two friends last night, and we all wanted to stand up and cheer!) said that when boiled down, universally, conservatives fundamentally believe in three things: 1.) Humans are not perfectable and are flawed by nature 2.) Humans are motivated by self-interest 3.) Human nature does not change dramatically Leftists view this as a selfish, jaded, and cynical outlook. I think it is simply realistic. But one could take the obverse of these (that humans are perfectable and Utopia may be achieved, that Altruism is as powerful a motivator as self-interest, and that human nature may be changed) and define liberalism perfectly, with the accompanying historical confirmation going back hundreds (if not thousands) of years, that those assumptions are inherently dangerous and destructive, and have led to more bloodshed than nearly anything else, at least in the last century or so.

He’s referring to the degree to which personality is inherited.
And given how social justice warriors and other liberals actively refuse to associate with conservatives, the scenario in the young adult dystopia “Divergent” books with everyone with the same personality essentially segregated and intermarrying actually looks plausible.
Only you’d have less “switching” after the first two or three generations, and the people kicked out of castes as nonconforming wouldn’t be breeding divergents because in that system they were too poor to have families.

Peterson is an evolutionary psychologist so when he refers to genetics, he is referring to the million plus year process of the development of the primate brain. Unlike Darwin, he doesn't necessarily subscribe to the survival of the fittest; rather his view is closer to the survival of the “functional.” Those qualities that allowed early man to adapt, live and even flourish across time and cultures. Over many millenia, these traits are passed on and refined until we have developed institutions that allow us to place emphasis on those functional qualities that we would now subscribe to as the “good.” Some cultures have developed that to a much greater extent than others. Those founded on the Judeo-Christian ethos (Western Civilization) are the best evolutionary examples of the manifestation of the “functional good.”

Bill Whittle is the best. His essays at his old website ( http://ejectejecteject.com ) are some of the finest, most inspiring conservative pieces you will ever read.

This is where the “Real War” is occurring.

What we believe.

The foundations of those beliefs.

Not long ago I asked my 21 year old Daughter, “What does it take to change a persons Worldview?” Without hesitation she replied “Crisis”.

The Left has been working overtime since the 1960’s to remove any and all potential crisis from peoples lives.

The Soviets made sure their people had plenty of Vodka and the Western Progressives make sure we are “entertained” with mindless, endless and meaningless media that overload their senses with so much nonsense that the Truth, a Truth, is only accessible to those that “Need” to really understand what’s going on.

It gets worse.

They have co-opted science and what we think we know to be true with Quantum Physics and its “Uncertainty” to suggest that “Nothing” can be certain.

“Everything is Broken up and Dances”

Junk science.

Political beliefs have nothing whatsoever to do with genetics, though I will accept that low IQ can be passed on genetically, which does tend to make one more susceptible to left-liberalism.

This is one reason Google and spinoffs are so keen to get everyone’s genetic profile.

Part for predictive advertising, part so that politicians can sharpen their messaging and targeting.

And they are having their subjects pay for it!

Ancestry too and as much as they love money, I imagine they’ll sell your dna to the highest bidder since when you give them your dna, they have complete rights to it forever. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Privacy-Concerns-Over-DNA-Tests-That-Help-Discover-Your-Roots-428914973.html#ixzz4kJFxzTPm

On the idea that humans are perfectable, especially as leftist think of perfection...

It has been said that Karl Marx, on reading Darwin’s work, hammered off a note to his partner in crime that he had found a basis in natural science for their beliefs.

I believe this needs to be looked at honestly in light of how the left says the various gulag states were somehow not what was intended.

The crux of my point is that Marx must have recognized that if there could be “natural selection” so too could there be unnatural selection, that the state could through enduring social manipulation take humans who were not fit to live in a communist society that Marx postulated could be altered in their basic nature to be such communistic creatures.

So for every lefty going on vapidly about how the communist ideal is stateless and government-less realize that they have been sold a bill of bads and are mindlessly passing it on. All the horrors, the tyranny, and the injustices meted out on human beings unfit for communism is exactly what Marx wanted. I’m not even gonna give the scumbag leeway to say that he underestimated the time and effort needed to force communistic “evolution” till these man-like communist beings (for in not sharing our nature they would not be Man as we are) could exist at all. Rather the untold generations to suffer that the new men might be made was just breaking eggs to make omelets and the left is far too dishonest to ever admit it.

Likewise Lysenkoism isn’t far from Marx, for if unnatural selection could be deemed likely to change Man into commu-mannish then why couldn’t there be a socialistic nature too?
