The New York Times is facing blowback on social media after publishing an essay by an African-American reporter who accused white women of racism for not ceding space on city sidewalks to black men.
In a Wednesday essay titled "Was That Racist," reporter Greg Howard singled out white women for forcing him "off the sidewalk completely" when walking towards him, not allowing a straight path.
"In seven years of living and walking here, Ive found that most people walk courteously but that white women, at least when Im in their path, do not," Howard writes.

Black dude! Its not racist,,,,dem bitches be crazy!
Women in general do not stop or slow for pedestrians, will hit you as soon as look at you at Costco, won’t show common courtesies that guys sometimes do. Guys in the country will raise a finger when passing another car...not so women[ tho they may not wish to be seen as “flirting or some such some old timer said to me] Guy joggers will say morning...women rarely do.
Just anecdotal observation [and no not ALL women...put the flame throwers down]
Bottom line women ACT a lot less friendly and do act entitled.
But it ain’t just you...its everybody in their way.
What a pussy, I hope he never finds himself anywhere with a large Asian or Hispanic concentration.
In NYC, you pass a lot more than “several” white women in a day, but the rude ones are the only ones that he remembers.
Yes. And anyone who has ever encountered a group of black folks standing around chatting in a hallway or walkway knows: they don’t give a damn what they are doing to the flow of traffic.
THIS. This is exactly the problem with angry black men:
White person looks at him? Oh, she's thinking I shouldn't be here!
White person doesn't look at him? Oh, she's ignoring me! Right, just ignore me and hope I go away!
White person smiles and speaks: Oh, right, trying to show me how open-minded you are. Am I your good deed for the day?
White person doesn't speak: Oh, no, don't speak to the Black Man, he's not even a person in your world!
White person gives way: Afraid I'm going to touch you, princess? Think the Black is going to rub off?
White person doesn't give way: Oh, right, I'm the one who has to step aside because I'm Black!
No matter what you do, they have the most racist interpretation already cooking in their heads. It's pointless to even try to figure out what they want, because they don't even know what they want until they see what you do. Then they decide that whatever they wanted, it wasn't THAT.
A lady will look you in the eye to acknowledge your existence and to see if you are a gentleman, or will at least act like one; a (typical) non-lady-like woman today will pretend you do not even exist (think Hitlery) and breeze right on by you, or through you if you don't get out of her way.
Personal experience. YMMV. (I live in the country. I do not think I've ever been on a "busy" sidewalk in my life...)
If he’s worried about manners, he should go hang at a Dennys or McDonalds in the hood. Then he’d have some columns to write.
“were supposed to live in a color- aware society.”
That depends upon whose doing the evaluation. If it is in the favor of the person doing the evaluation, it works. If not, it comes down to how much needs to be changed to reach that point.
Let’s look at basics. 75 years ago there were a lot of things wrong and the color line was imbalanced. And a majority of it was done in the south and orchestrated by southern democrats. They kept black Americans from voting or even being able to improve themselves to the level of the dems so the libs position of control was protected. It wasn’t until the 60’s when the civil rights acts were voted in, predominately by conservatives, that the libs power was being stripped.
And that’s when they started an all out effort to bribe, intimidate financially, or any other covert action to gain the black vote in America. They did the same thing in the 1700’s when they were controlling congress as at that time, the control of the vote was based upon the amount of people the representative worked for. So by counting the slaves, that they were not actually representing, they increased their voting power. To counter it, the conservatives only were required to count a slave as half a person because the southern dems were not representing them, they were using them. Therefore when the were forced to relinquish a lot of their power after the 60’s they gave the neighboring black reps just enough rope to hang themselves by forcing legislation down their throats. And it continues today. And for reasons I just can’t understand, the black Americans continue to support these libs while they are getting screwed by them.

Greg Howard needs to get some education on ‘navigation rules’.
He ought to have yelled ‘starboard’ and simply held his course.
I have a different theory I don’t think anyone’s mentioned. A disproportionate number of white women in places like New York are attractive and attractive women studiously practice the art of avoiding eye contact on the streets of placed like that.
>>Your father sounds well raised, but in response to a gentleman ceding the right of way a lady should acknowledge that politeness with a nod or other gesture. They shouldnt just continue like a juggernaut.
She should, however if she doesn’t it changes nothing for me. For all I know she may be blind or deaf or terribly worried with something on her mind. She may be on her way to save my own mother’s life. I don’t know. I must assume that her intentions and wishes are as noble as mine, and treat her like a lady. I would reference all young men to Man of LaMancha as a role model. Whether it be up the beaches of Iwojima or a stroll to the grocery store. A man’s duty, burden and privilege are all one in the same. Honor is honor. I’m not saying I meet that goal, but I witnessed a man attempting it while I was growing up. And I will remember.

This is the same show of physical domination that Muslims show when they are all praying in the streets, blocking traffic and sidewalks.
His message is clear - you white women are inferior, you are required to get out of the way of your black male superiors all the time or else be shamed for it.
It is like dhimmi being forced to get off the road so Muslims didn’t have to change their path.
Speaking of which, can you imagine what would happen to any white NY Times columnist who wrote an article along the lines of, “I have noticed that black/Hispanic, etc. men or women always [fill in stereotypical behavior and derogatory remarks about said group] ....”
The journalism career would be over instantly.
I so appreciate what he is saying and I vow to not only move out of his way, but to cross the street entirely as fast as I can.....the farther away from his stink the better....
Many years of running for exercise on public beaches taught me to beware of women walking directly into my path. They weren’t exactly “blissful,” they were just oblivious to their surroundings. A non-PC observation, but that’s what happened. Men were rarely a problem.
Self-centered rude people of all types do this all the time. It happens to everyone.
