Judge Andrew Napolitano said today that political campaigns cannot accept "something of value" from a foreign person or government.
The Fox News senior judicial analyst said on "America's Newsroom" that the Trump campaign's lawyer - if consulted - would have likely advised Donald Trump Jr. and others not to attend a meeting last spring with a Russian lawyer.
Napolitano said if damaging information about Hillary Clinton was provided at the meeting, it would have been a "felony, the completion of a crime."
He said the law "may not be the best statute in the world," since it can also be argued that Americans have a First Amendment right to gather information.
The judge, however, said the meeting was "suspicious" and should be investigated, especially since it also involved a man linked to Russian intelligence.
"Why didn't Jared Kushner tell the FBI about it when he filled out his national security application?" asked Napolitano.
The judge said the question is whether Kushner tried to hide a "foolish" decision to attend the meeting or whether he was hiding actual collusion with Russia to hurt the Clinton campaign.

This puke goes whatever way the wind is blowing. Total puke.
Could it possibly be elevated to the “matter” category?
Judge Nap is FOS.
Even Dershowitz says no crime committed.
The hair must growing inward.
And the Eddie Munster doppleganger strikes again. I don’t know why anybody cares what this fool has to say. About anything. Ever.
Anytime you are ready to stop pooping out of your mouth would be swell, “Judge”.
The judge, however, said the meeting was "suspicious" and should be investigated, especially since it also involved a man linked to Russian intelligence.
The judge ought to know better. The man in question is only "linked to Russian intelligence" through rumors and innuendo. Under the law, he has no links to Russian intelligence. He would have been ineligible for U.S. citizenship if he had been a Russian intelligence agent in the past.
"Why didn't Jared Kushner tell the FBI about it when he filled out his national security application?" asked Napolitano.
This is a perfectly legitimate question. I, for one, will make no attempt to defend a liberal Democrat who files an incomplete or false national security application.
This guy Napolitano is a bigger idiot than Krauthammer. I’ve stopped watching FOX News for some time now. Too many leftist shills.
I ignore him.
It’s Turley and Dershowitz who know the law.
Well FOX sure slapped him into shape...didn’t they?
I barely watch FOX anymore...will have to cut that to zero except for Hannity and Judge Jeannie.
This is about clickbait and ratings! Nothing more!!!
Judge Nap is gay. Enough said.
Agreed. And sometimes Tucker is worth it ... and Lou Dobbs on Fox Business is one of the last intelligent, informed professional broadcasters who “get it” in my view.
He just wants to keep his cushy job. Fix is his last refuge.
I read somewhere that only certain meetings have to be documented. An ongoing relationship and a few others. None of which this meeting met the criteria.
I’ll have to find it again.
“”Even Dershowitz says no crime committed.””
AND Jonathan Turley - both men have other responsibilities (careers) but have given of their time to get that point across. I’ll trust both of them on this..
Did Nappy mention the real story that the woman hooker/spy/”lawyer” was an obama plant berniebot here illegally on an expired visa and Jr not only didnt take the bait but released all the pertinent emails and even if he did listen to her this is not illegal?
More proof that I made a smart decision to stop watching Faux news early last year.
Do the libs have something about Nappy’s sex life, he doesn’t want out in public?
We don’t have to think alike on our side...
Judge Andrew Napolitano’s voice matters. I don’t agree with him on this issue but I value him as one of our cultural leaders.
It is not illegal to, earn about the truth, nor its not illegal for voters to be told about the truth on their candidates. To the contrary, its our duty to learn the most we can, and its the duty of the opposing candidate to inform the voters about thier opponet such as Hillary who was not forthcoming on the truth., this is our right to know...
If Trump was paid to disseminate propaganda by Russians, or paid in return return for favors, or conspired to publicly slander, that would be illegal, like Hillary had done, but that's not what we have here... freedom of assembly for learning the truth with the intent of exercising free speech is our constitutional right.
