A former GOP congressman who voted to impeach then-President Bill Clinton in 1998 has hit out at what he labeled “the Donald Trump show.”

On Monday, former Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) told CNN International host Christiane Amanpour that the current president’s situation involving the investigations into his associates’ alleged ties to Russia is “much more serious” than the scandal that ended up engulfing Clinton’s administration.

Inglis made his comments after Amanpour played out an interview from 1998 in which he explained just why Clinton should be impeached.

Set up, maybe? Nah...it’s always popular to have a washed up political has-been nobody on the air to tell the schlubs in the audience which way the wind blows.

What a dirty little scumbag. What I want to know is he just a flake or did the GOP put him up to it? I think half the GOP are closet democrats.

The GOPe is missing an opportunity of continuing power by not supporting Trump. Trump cannot remain president beyond 8 years, but the party can continue its success by supporting the people instead of selfish interests.

Trump’s agenda is the people’s agenda, or he would not have been elected.

Let’s take a trip back in history regarding RINO Bob.

He was primaried by Trey Gowdy and got his teeth kicked in.
Gowdy beat RINO Bob in a runoff 71% - 29%.
That is what is known as an ass whooping.

>>that the current president’s situation involving the investigations into his associates’ alleged ties to Russia is “much more serious” than the scandal that ended up engulfing Clinton’s administration.<<

clinton actually lied to congress and committed other crimes.

President Trump has done nothing.

This is NOT serious.

CNN is beating the bushes for republicans to say dark and ominous things about trump. this guy was a substandard congressman by any measure. that why he got primaried by half the replicants in his district, and ultimately destroyed by trey gowdy in the run off.

but blame CNN for creating news, not reporting it.

I think half the GOP are closet democrats.

It's easy to spot the real conservatives. They are the ones who voted a dozen times to repeal Obamacare when they knew Obama would veto it and then voted once more to repeal it now that we have a real American as President. They are the ones who are pushing the Hearing Protection Act of 2017 through Congress as quickly as possible so we can buy silencers without a special $200 firearms stamp and a one-year wait. They are the ones who want to fund the Wall and deport all illegals. Half the GOP? I like your optimism.

Unfortunately our representatives in congress represent the Deep State and not the American people. That’s why all the hatred is being manufactured by them to take Trump out. Too much money and political power will be taken out of their hands if Trump succeeds as president.

To be an effective conservative, you need to both understand and care about the issues. When I observe republicans, a LOT of them fail to display understanding or commitment to sound policies. I think at least half are just going through the motions.

Inglis talks of “matters.” He says the matters are more serious:

One of the two involves Barack Obama’s executive treaty concerning Climate Change. Sorry, Bob, there actually aren’t are such thing. There are no executive treaties in the country. A case could be made that Obama violated the Constitution by transferring $1 billion to a UN agency in fulfillment of his hocus pocus executive treaty, since the Constitution reserves the power of the purse to Congress. The American public considered this, along with everything else, in their decision to elect Trump. So, we should just move forward and put Obama’s abuse of power behind us. If Inglis were serious, he wouldn’t mix the Climate Change matter with impeachment.

The other matter, says Inglis, is what Trump did or might have done with regard to Russia. After months of investigation, we do not even know what this is supposed to mean. If there’s nothing there, there’s no possibility of obstruction of justice. Trump couldn’t be engaged in a cover-up, if there’s nothing to cover-up. But, even if Trump is guilty of something with regard to Russia, he has absolutely the right to dismiss the Director of the FBI. There is no allegation that Trump interfered with whatever the FBI is doing in its investigation. The Acting Director said this himself. So, we would need (1) evidence that Trump is guilty of something, and (2) some actual interference in the work of the FBI in its investigation of Russia. Maybe the big boys in the Senate (or someplace else) have reasonable suspicion of these things. But, if they do, they haven’t shared it with the public.

As for Inglis, what is he doing nowadays? After being defeated by Trey Gowdy, he went to work for a climate change group.

Well, duh!
