Barack Obama Just Violated The Logan Act…Again
The Federalist Papers ^ | 7/3/17 | Steve Straub

Posted on 07/04/2017 4:26:47 AM PDT by Lera

For some unknown reason Barack Obama met with South Korea’s new leader almost immediately after he returned from a meeting with President Trump. The Korea Herald reports:

President Moon Jae-in renewed his resolve to pursue sanctions and dialogue to tackle North Korea’s nuclear program during a meeting with former US President Barack Obama on Monday, saying now is the “last chance” for the regime to return to the negotiating table.

During the 40-minute talk, Moon shared the results of his recent summit with his incumbent US counterpart Donald Trump, asking for Obama’s advice on ways to advance the relationship.

This could be construed as a violation of the Logan Act as defined by Cornell Law School:

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Probably the apathy was there before as much as it is today. Political activism and concern is a business of the relatively few. The idiocy existed in Emerson's time. Here's what he said about it: Have a very merry 4th of July...

Focus instead on dismantling his bad policies, purging the feds of his followers. If you bring up what looks like a conspiracy theory, it distracts from the actual work that needs to be done and interferes with it.

I agree that the Logan act has often not been enforced, yet those facts do not define how, or that, it is unenforceable.

Isn’t it only that Presidents have CHOSEN to not pursue enforcement, and not that they were restricted by law from doing so.

Use this as a reason to get search warrant for his house in DC. He doesn’t live there but Valerie Jarrett does. She is still his chief of staff and she is running the shadow white house for him from there. We are witnessing the first attempt to wrest power away from the constitutionally elected leader in our countries history.

Don’t forget Merkel gave Obama an award right before the nato summit. All these leaders are believing the press and think they can deal with Obama instead of Trump

No focus on conspiracies—just on facts.

Facts will dispel the myth that is BHO.

That is what I am after.

As Reagan used to say, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction”.

We must teach our children and grandchildren well.

The Fourth teaches us the great cost for such a lesson.

You have a great 4th also.

He was adopted by an Indonesian. I think there is at least some cause to believe he traveled on an Indonesian passport and studied under a foreign student scholarship. That could call his citizenship into question. But then John Brennan may have done a good job of destroying those records, so we may never know.

"He (Obama) is running for Sec General of the UN where he can do the most damage to the US."

Obama can never become Secretary General of the UN.

The UN charter states that no appointee to this spot can be a citizen of the UN Security Council's 5 permanent member countries...of which the U.S. is one.

Never fear, though, he certainly will try to find a position of power where he can continue his life's dream of destroying our Republic.

Happy 4th of July! Our beloved nation is 241 years old today. I really have zero interest in what former President Obama does or says in retirement. But thanks for letting me know that a liberal Democrat is acting like a liberal Democrat.

Obama is not acting like a liberal Democrat. He’s acting like a malignant 14 yo with screws loose.

Which is mentally and emotionally exactly what he is.

It’s very predictable, btw, that you want to now shun discussions about him. While his WH handlers had him on a leash, you spent countless hours defending him. But now that he’s on the loose and acting like an unhinged child, you want to pretend you weren’t a tireless, relentless, unthinking Obot.

I understand.

There’s a difference between a liberal Democrat and a malignant 14 year old with screws loose? Who knew?
This particular malignant 14 year old with screws loose was in South Korea to be the keynote speaker at the 8th Annual Asian Leadership Conference. The new President of South Korea, who is a liberal former human rights attorney requested an informal meeting with the malignant 14 year old with screws loose. They met. What malignant 14 year old with screws loose would turn down an opportunity for more international media exposure?

Obama has great excuses for bird-dogging Trump around the globe—is that what you’re saying?

Of course there’s no chance that Obama arranges these appearances in order to (attempt to) sabotage Trump. No chance that an Obot could detect, anyway.

The serendipitous circumstances that place Obama in the same international locations as Trump just keep adding up. As the old (sarcastic) saying goes, ‘Coincidence, coincidence...what a coincidence.’

A normal ex-president wouldn’t be meeting with the same heads of state that Trump is meeting. It’s called, ‘One president at a time.’

Obama is not normal, however. He’s in the throes of a major and worsening Personality Disorder. His pathological need for attention will continue to manifest itself in ways that undermine the country. He’s a loose canon guided only by his narcissistic needs. This won’t end well.

Btw, your post makes you the only person on the thread who is justifying, rationalizing, or whatever you want to call it, Obama’s treachery. Your old, familiar role on FR is just too hard to quit.

President Trump has been to South Korea recently? I did not know that. I do know that the president met with South Korea’s president at the White House.
Speakers for an international conference are set up months, if not years in advance. At this year’s Asian Leadership Conference in addition to the malignant 14 year old with screws loose, the speakers included David Cameron, former British Prime Minister, Fukado Yasuo, former Japanese Prime Minister, Esko Aho, former Finnish Prime Minister, and Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister.

How many leaders that Trump had met with did Obama also meet with?

Who were they?

Was it all mere happenstance? Is Obama still as guileless and innocent as ever?
