Never heard of Photobucket. Is it like Instagram, except more permanent?

I’ve used them for years but really hate how Photobucket works. But since I’m just an individual user this doesn’t affect me either way. Its just dumb.

Yes, the last few days I was perusing motor rebuilding threads (heavily illustrated) and suddenly many of the photos are locked. Damn!

Yeah, tell me about it. My avatar and thirteen pages of photos are in there. And they want $40 a month to allow third party hosting? I’m going to have to back them all up one at a time and find a new host. Photobucket can ESAD.

I back up my phone photos to Photo Bucket. I’ve not reach my limit. I trust I can still do this for free?
If not, no problem. I also back them up to Google photos. That’s still free.

Photobucket just informed me that they will continue to offer that for the modest sum of 400 bucks per year.Their service has declined and more ads creeping in. Time for a new service. Didn't want to move because it worked.

So it wasn't just me.
Now all of my pictures and pings will have that "3rd Party" nonsense on them.
I was looking at starting a TinyPic account.
But I too am looking for a new photo-sharing site.
Facebook is good, but I have noticed as years go by, the links get moved and tend to get broken.

It takes so much time to do anything on Photobucket due to all the popups and ads. I would love to find a better hosting service.

Why not establish you own website for image hosting?
For less than $100, considerably less, you can have your own domain.
My domain costs $4.00/month for hosting and $25 one time/year for domain name.
You’ll also need some file transfer software to get your files onto your website, but there are several FTP (file transfer protocol) software packages free for download.

What a pain. I haven’t gotten the notice yet but like many things; it can take days for everyone to be notified if they have a lot of people. I guess downloading everything on Photobucket is the thing to do now.

Get your own web domain, find an ISP and host them there, yourself. That's what I do.
Use FTP for uploading the photos into a web-aaccessible directory. Then anyone can use their browser to view them. Or, of course, you can use the <IMG> HTML tag to imbed them in FR comments...
Works great for me; in fact, that is my web domain's sole function -- sharing graphics & data with colleagues...
