Hug Your Cat Day is one of those pleasingly straightforward holidays. Quite simply, it is a day in which cat owners everywhere are encouraged to hug their cats. The more dedicated amongst them will not need this encouragement, of course, but it is always good to be reminded of our feline friends.
The obvious downside to the day as that people without cats may be left out. This need not be the case, however it should be straightforward enough to simply adapt it into Hug Someone Elses Cat Day.
So, whether or not you are the proud housemate of a purring kitty, Hug Your Cat Day is the perfect excuse to put a bit of warmth and companionship into your life. No matter whats going on around you, no matter how bad or troubling things get, you can always count on your furry friend to be there for you.
National ignore your Human more day. Our cats only come to us if their cat food dishes are empty...we love them thou..
Hug a cat that doesn’t want to be hugged, and you might end up being shredded.
Yeah, but a lot of them tend to hiss and scratch and bite.
Sometimes the cats are ill behaved as well.
You named your cat Mao? What did you call your dog, Trotsky?
Not true. I have a cat ( my little hunter) who would come up to me when I’m laying on the couch, and lay herself, across my hip and just purr and be happy. I fed her of course, but if she was really hungry, she just ask to be let out so she could get something fresh.
Ever find the head and hind quarters of a chipmunk in your living room? Yea, she snuck one past dad one day. Wanted to eat in.
I’m losing her though. Age and hyperthyroidism are taking her away and it sucks.
Today is National Hug Your Cat Day, and the day is almost over.
How will I explain this to my Cats? Nobody ever tells me anything.
Of course, my own cat is a calico, so I won't be hugging her....
Wow, so like he’s available???
‘You named your cat Mao? What did you call your dog, Trotsky?’
Mao is Mandarin Chinese for the animal that makes the “Mao” (Meow) sound. She was named by my Shanghai-born lady friend. An appropriate name too, as Mao is a real talkative kitty!
That’s the poster girl for the Future Cat Ladies of America.
I’ll only be celebrating half of the day.
I have one kitty who loves to be hugged and another who hates it.
Our newest cats, Pepin and Casper, are still kittens. They are rescue cats and they are 3 months. Our other cats, Kittery (a Maine Coon, so it is named for Kittery), Penny and Garfield (he looks like the comic cat) are around 7 to 11 years old.
Hugging is not my cats thing.
Squirreling is, he eats everything except the stomach and the tail.
He would do the same to me if he was big enough.
(Well, I don’t have a tail, but...)
Safe to say, he'll never do that again.
My cat is more like, “Forget the hug, just feed me.”
Wonderful.
