Hug Your Cat Day is one of those pleasingly straightforward holidays. Quite simply, it is a day in which cat owners everywhere are encouraged to hug their cats. The more dedicated amongst them will not need this encouragement, of course, but it is always good to be reminded of our feline friends.
The obvious downside to the day as that people without cats may be left out. This need not be the case, however it should be straightforward enough to simply adapt it into Hug Someone Elses Cat Day.
So, whether or not you are the proud housemate of a purring kitty, Hug Your Cat Day is the perfect excuse to put a bit of warmth and companionship into your life. No matter whats going on around you, no matter how bad or troubling things get, you can always count on your furry friend to be there for you.
Might as well call it “National Cat Lady Appreciation Day”
Cat ladies actually need more hugs than the kitties they horde.
That cat looks so much like my 19 year old cat STINKY who passed away last August. She was my sweet baby girl since 1997. I miss her so much.
We still have Wyck, our all white male cat, but he has feline AIDS. Found him Sept. 2008.
We still have Jezabelle. Found her April 2010 when she was about one year old.
We’ve got two - actually my daughter’s (she and her family live with us). An orange tabby and a calico. They’re both precious.
Me, I’m both a cat *and* a dog person. :-)
Mao, my tuxedo kitty, is asleep on my bed.
:)
Reminds me of the April visit of my 4 grandsons. The youngest had just turned 2 at the end of March. Poor kitty got carried at least once every day. Fortunately, he’s a very people-tolerant feline.
Heh!
My cat Bob sometimes allows me to be his mattress. If I fall asleep he takes the opportunity to do a thorough cleaning of himself. He sometimes allows me to scritch his ears. His word not mine. But if I try to hug him, he makes loud protesting noises. Sometimes that is amusing and I try to play him like a bagpipe but pretty soon he gets really cranky and I don’t want to hold him if he’s really cranky.
Kitteh Ping
Not sure I dare hug my cat today, as he’s having a difficult time forgiving me for accidentally stepping on his tail. Ouch!
It’s a good thing this comes before National Wash
your cat day and also before National visit the ER day.
Anyone who hits a cat is either bad, not too smart or both.
Today was Advantage day. Amazingly I didn’t get one scratch. Got some catty looks though.
Our cats think EVERY day is ‘hug the cat’ day. They want to be in our laps 24/7 and are pretty demanding about it.
In Korea, they have a slightly different name for Hug Your Cat Day.
