From the movie "Gods and Generals".
Our Civil War - "The Second War of Independence" as Stonewall Jackson called it - was a terrible thing.
It chokes me up when I think the of the loss of all those American lives on both sides.
We study history so we can learn how to avoid doing the Stupid all over again.
Evidently, some on the other side are poor learners.
At any rate... enjoy the song.
Thanks for this.
Mary Fahl should have had a much bigger career. Her group “October Project” made some very fine music, but the record company lost interest after just a couple of albums. She’s also done good solo work, but never seemed to catch on.
Great tune, great opening credit scene and great movie. I’ve had that linked on my FR homepage for years :)
There’s still time for her
All it takes is that one song... :^)
Hope springs eternal, buddy... After all, look at last November... :^)
It’s one of my favorite movies.
Glad you enjoyed it. I never get tired of hearing it.
Great song! Really touches you. It’s medley is played throughout the movie
Thank you so much! I’m listening to Return to Me with the Youth Orchestra of Bucks County. Wish I could have seen her. Now I’m going to have to watch the movies.

Beautiful voice.
Captures whatever moment she’s singing in perfectly.
Because it’s real.
Ahh, good ol’ Fats Domino.
Great talent from the past!!!!
True that, Joe.
Every damn time.
I was besties with her younger sister, Ann, growing up. Mary was always a great singer. But as an older sister to a much younger one, boy was she mean! :)
I wish I knew Ann was doing ok these days. She disappeared after school, I think of her often.
Here’s another one... from our Earlier War for Freedom.
Mama, Look Sharp

Local Hero, final scene. Favorite movie.
You are right my FRiend. Unfortunately, I believe we are headed toward a civil war again in this country.
Here yo go buddy...

She’s touring this year.
Probably doing just fine.
As a side note, Bob Dylan's closing song in the movie "Cross the Green Mountain" was in my opinion one of his best songs ever and likely one of the best theatrical movie closings ever............
“..I don’t know why but I get tears in my eyes whenever I listen to this song....”
Because it’s sad as Hell, brother... We ripped ourselves apart for four years. 660,000+ dead Americans, mothers greiving over sons, husbands, brothers... families destroyed.
It definitely evokes something deep in the soul.
But after all... that’s what good music supposed to do.
RE Dylan:
That is also an amazing song.
Always appreciated his work. I dig out “Blood on the Tracks” and sit back with a couple of bourbons and my twelve string and play along every once in a while.
“Tangled up in BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....” Haha!
“He got into dealing with slaves, an somethin’ inside o’ him died...”
Great music from a better day for it, for sure.
