Oh, he just wants to sell drugs. I was afraid he was going to run for office as a Democrat. (But I guess in that case, his ties to a registered sex offender would count as an asset.)

Isn’t this the original “not guilty”. Though by now she must have aged enough to have accumulated much guilt.

He has a point.
He wants to go into a legal business but due to certain laws, he cannot enter the business because of a crime his wife committed 21 years ago.
That’s government overreach that is preventing him starting a business.

This story has more relavance if you know what state they are in. In this case Washington State, bit I had to go digging for the information. Even the NY Post only obliquely referred to Washington. I did not know if which they meant. In doing so I went to wiki to find she has wiki imortality. But I was surprised to see this additional information.
Mary Katherine Schmitz was born in Tustin, California, the daughter of Mary E. (née Suehr), a chemist, and John G. Schmitz, a university professor.
When she was two years old, her father began his political career and successfully ran as a Republican for a seat in the state legislature. He held positions as a California state senator and U.S. Congressman, winning a special election for an unexpired term in 1970 and the general election later that year. After a primary defeat in 1972, he changed parties and ran for president as an ultra-conservative American Independent Party candidate in the 1972 U.S. presidential election.
In 1978, her father was elected once again as a Republican to the California State Senate. He intended to run for the U.S. Senate in 1982, but his political career was permanently damaged that year when it was revealed that he had fathered two children out of wedlock during an affair with a former student at Santa Ana College, where he had taught political science.
Her brother John Patrick Schmitz was the deputy counsel to President George H. W. Bush. Her other brother, Joseph E. Schmitz, was Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Defense under George W. Bush, was a senior executive with Blackwater Worldwide, and is a foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump.

“being married to a registered sex offender is simply bad for business”
I did not expect to read that statement. It’s true, but I never thought about the possibility that anyone would have to say it or write it down.

Oh, good news everyone, they are still in love, he just wants to get a license to sell weed, it’s easier if they don’t have to do a background check on his sex-offender wife.
