RIP..I liked him as 007. Different than Connery..but still it was entertaining.
15 seconds...................
Yep. He made it to 89.
Nice
My wife and I just talked about him as Bond yesterday
I couldn’t stand him as Bond but think he was a decent guy otherwise.
Very good actor....Great movies...He was excellent in “The Wild Geese”....But...
Sean Connery WAS James Bond....
He was one of my favorite Bond’s
Of course we all need to start a Best Bond discussion in his honor.
1) Sean Connery (of course)
2) Roger Moore
3) Piers Brosnan
...
....
others I can barely remember their names including the current one- which it the mark of a poor ‘Bond’.
...
last) all the rest especially Timothy Dalton (which is sad- he had the right ‘look’ but lacked the ‘cool’)
I can’t even remember George Lazenby and I had no Idea David Niven was a Bond.
3 years older than Connery.
RIP Sir Roger.
I’ll always remember him as Simon Templar.
Loved the Wild Geese!
One of the best !
He was the Bond of my youth, as I was too young to see Connery in the role in theaters. I do think Connery and Craig made the best Bonds, but for different reasons. Connery is who I picture when I'm reading the books when he's being the ladies' man, Craig is who I picture when he's cold and calculated.
That being said, I think Roger Moore had a wonderful sense of humor about his Bond role. He spoofed the heck out of it/himself in Cannonball Run.
AS I recall, he was offered the first Bond role, but couldn’t get out of his obligation to ‘The Saint’, where he played the very Bond-like Templar.
I am going to get a Volvo P1800.
Ian Fleming actually viewed Niven as his Bond, but couldn't get him. Niven played Bond in the spoof Casino Royale.
I've read all Fleming's books several times. Funny thing is, I picture Connery when Bond is being the ladies' man, or bantering about, but I picture Craig as the cold and calculating killer getting the job done efficiently.
Craig really does fit the role in that regard.
Me, too! Handsome gentleman.
He was not my favorite James Bond ( Sean Connery is ), yet, I have to say that he was fun to watch. I will miss him.
In the real world, James Bond should have died as early as Goldfinger. These villains could have just shot him and that would have been the end of 007, but they have to device some esoteric torture machine and leave him alone to die and then give 007 the chance to escape with one of his clever gadgets !! SHEESH.
Rant aside Roger Moore remains a classy man who used his fame to good use. He was known for his generosity and philantropy. He also spoke Italian perfectly ( his former wife Luisa Mattioli is Italian ).
There was another movie called The Miracle. He was the dashing young British officer and love interest of Carol Baker’s character. They hardly ever show that movie. Sappy love story, but beautiful Napoleonic era movie.
