Joining her father President Donald Trump on his trip through the Middle East, Ivanka Trump has dressed more modestly than usual, and that streak has continued during their visit to Israel.
The first daughter was photographed wearing a rarely seen accessory (at least on her): a hat. She wore the small navy hat perched on one side on her head, with a headband securing the velvet topper. Her hair was styled in a soft chignon at the nape of her neck.
Hats are worn by Orthodox Jewish women following the concept of Tzniut, which is Hebrew for modesty or humility in both dress and behavior. Orthodox women will opt for loose clothing in muted colors that do not draw attention, long-sleeve tops, skirts long enough to cover the knee while sitting and close-toed shoes. And in some traditional communities, women will wear a hat after marriage, especially at a synagogue or Holy site.
The Western Wall, which Ivanka visited today, is Judaism’s holiest prayer site.
The rest of her look was also more modest than what’s typically seen from Ivanka, who converted to Judaism in 2009 before marrying husband Jared Kushner.

If this isnt a publicity stunt she should still be wearing a head covering at all times when In the presence of anyone but her husband while in israel.. Dont know if fathers count.

Yahoo really doesn’t understand “deep meaning” behind anything.
Visiting the Kotel is a religious event for Jews. Some women wear a head covering to show respect, but it’s not required as it is for men. Many religious Jewish women cover their hair (not just the top) anytime when in public.
Notice that wearing a wig, as in one of the photos, is considered covering the hair.
Ivanka’s hat looks like a style statement. Note that Melania’s head is uncovered.

It looks more like a hat than a fascinator from this angle. And it has a kind of 50s/Audrey Hepburn “Roman Holiday” design. It looks fabulous. A lot better than Malia and the other one’s ugly outfits. Or The Mooch for that matter.
It’s a fact. Ivanka carefully crafts her image. It has been that way long before Trump ran for POTUS.
She knew exactly what she was doing. Nothing wrong with that. But she has to follow the rule ALL the time while there as is custom.

Maybe. But I will give the account this. It explained what Ivanka was doing (I don’t normally give the Trump’s the benefit of the doubt, but here I am) and it allowed her to meet the guidelines, present herself in a modest manner, honor the traditions and yet be very fashionable. Win all the way around.
It’s not just in public. It is also in private. If you have a dinner and a bunch of guests come you wear your head covering.. I am not Jewish but while watching Srugim I would go to a website that delved into the episodes and explained things. Of course, I didn’t understand a lot of the words they used.
Some of the episodes had a character go live in a Jewish settlement. Got free bullet proof coverings for windows. They got scared one day while walking thinking they saw an Arab. It was an interesting slice of life show.
Does anyone know if you’re suppose to use a right or left hand to touch the wall or does it matter?
If she did it wrong there would have been a lot of reports about it..so it was probably right way..whatever she did. They gave her a hard time about Western wall comment versus Temple Mount...Haaretz came out and defended her comment.
I wonder what Yahoo Style would say if Ivanka was photographed in a snood.

they used a lot of crochet snoods on Srugim. There was a variety of head gear..including the Ultra Orthodox gay guy who marries an ultra orthodox woman who wears the sheitel
It was interesting to see the whole ritual, worry, etc over a woman and her period. One started her period as she was getting married. They weren’t suppose to touch etc.
