A passenger reportedly tried to force his way into the cockpit of the Honolulu-bound flight from Los Angeles
The US military on Friday scrambled two Air Force fighter jets to escort an American Airlines flight into Honolulu international airport after a disturbance was reported on board, a Pacific Command spokesman said.
Neither the military nor American Airlines immediately disclosed the nature of the disturbance, but local news media reported that a passenger had tried to force his way into the cockpit of the Honolulu-bound flight from Los Angeles.
HawaiiNewsNow said an airline crew member and an off-duty Honolulu police officer subdued the unruly passenger. US family: we were kicked off Delta flight for refusing to give up son's seat Read more
Citing unnamed sources, the news outlet also reported that the male passenger was Turkish and had earlier breached security at Los Angeles international airport but was assessed and allowed to board the flight anyway.

Let me be the first to say "Obviously NOT Terrorism Related"
At least, the article doesn’t claim or deny terrorism. Another one of Edrogan’s bodyguards??
You are an airline passenger enroute to your destination. You look out the window and see fighters escorting your aircraft. To put it politely, they are not there for YOUR safety.
No red flags here, TSA.
Quick, go frisk that grandma in the wheelchair with the American flag taped to it.
He may be a crazy Muslim but he ain’t stupid...if he had tried that crap on a UNITED plane, he would be at room temperature right now! /s;)
Why are fighter jets scrambled in these circumstances? Are they going to shoot down the plane if they think it will crash into a residential area? I’ve never understood the purpose, if anyone knows.
After all the planejackings in the ME during the 70’s, 9/11 and other terrorist attacks involving aircraft and the FINALLY put locks on the cockpit doors.
The Hawaiian judge has a hell of a lot of explaining to do after barring trump from banning ‘refugees’ from terrorist nations and now something like this happens by a dude fro ma terrorist nation
They play the numbers. You can kill a hundred or so on the plane or risk losing a thousand or more on the ground. It’s cold hearted but the consequences of not acting could be catastrophic.
Are they going to shoot down the plane if they think it will crash into a residential area.....
...or a Dodgers game
Exactly. I say kill the disruptor and let those not on the plane know IMMEDIATELY!
Yes, very much.
I agree. So strange.
Before 9/11, I had a passenger who insisted on getting into the cockpit while we were airborn. He was pounding on the cockpit door. I said, “Sit down!”
It took a few times to convince him....but he sat down.
What does "was assessed" mean?
The larger question is who is doing the assessing? And what exactly do they assess?

Maybe it means that they suspect he is a muzzie, and since we live in a PC world, they didn't want to offend muzzies, so they probably didn't do anything. But, they probably DID do a strip search on granny. You know, granny is more dangerous than a Middle East muzzie. /S
>the news outlet also reported that the male passenger was Turkish
I’m calling it now: islam and its idiocy and evil. Kill it now. Dismember this POS in public and set an example that islam will not be tolerated.
Well, they may be right. I’m a grannie and truly, extremely dangerous. Beware grannies bearing knitting needles. Muzzies don’t knit, do they?

Anyone ever seen the TSA staff at LAX? This is no surprise. I think they picked up the applicants that washed out at the DMV.
The fighter jet pilots can attempt to peer into the cockpit of the commercial plane and determine visually what's going on (e.g., when there is no radio contact), they can signal to the commercial plane pilot, etc. In short, they can provide considerable assistance.
And they can also, if need be, shoot down the commercial airplane.
