if you want really simple- I guess many use Aomei cloner- but it’s chinese- i don’t really trust chinese products- but it’s suppsoed to be really simple- it’s free too-

The new drive needs to be larger than the current drive.

Very good Debian based cloning software. Works fine for me for Windows as I clone my OS drive to a secondary drive regularly (drive to image) as a backup.

Boot some generic linux CD that allows you see both your C: and the new drive. Use the command "dd" to make an exact duplicate.

Trying to duplicate a drive that is "active" is troublesome.

Macrium Reflect Free for home use is what I use to clone my OS on both my desktop and laptop.

The main concern you should have is that the 2 computers have identical hardware so the various drivers on the main computer will work on the clone.

Macrium Reflect allows you to create a Windows PE DVD and/or Linux DVD version for reinstalling/re-running the program to restore the OS partition.

For large volume cloning, used Symantec Ghost extensively for years before spinning up SCCM. There is a free trial offer at Symantec.com. This may be way overkill for your requirements, however.

hows about cloning my hard drive intact to a bigger drive?
tried a few, but they didn’t seem to create a new bootable drive?

just popping my head up for a quick question

I use Clonezilla on a USB thumb drive to boot and backup to another usb drive, then you can burn it to ANY hard Drive, and yes it does not copy Blank Space so how ever much space your drive uses, that is how big the image will be.

I use Macrium at home & work - for non-encrypted drives.

To do a sector-by-sector copy of an encrypted drive I use Ubuntu live. Here is a little primer:
