Has anyone else noticed an inordinate amount of spam emails lately?
I used to (well, until about three weeks or so ago) only get the occasional spam, my email address was private.
But lately I been getting HUGE amounts - at least 80 per day!
I am using Outlook Express with Centurylink as an ISP, WinXP SP3.
I tried Spamfilter which worked good - for a week - then they demanded $29 a year to keep it going, so I uninstalled it.
Anyways just curious about the FReepers reactions.
Looks to me like zero relevant hits. But I must be on a list somewhere...
5 years ago I used to get lots of email from people that seemed
very concerned about my ‘private part’.
I have no idea why they were so concerned, as I was not.
It faded over time (the spam, not the ‘private part’).

I have as well and am thinking about the problem and work around.
I suspect it has to do with info android delivers and Windoze 10.
Two of the three are, um, wrong.
First, Win XP (which I happened to like but..) is a dead fish and does not now nor will in the future receive any security updates. You might want to consider Win7 or (groan) Win10 just for the continued support from those folk in Redmond.
Second, Outlook Express is (and always was) one of the worst email programs out. You might want to consider something else.
My personal preference is Thunderbird. It will (if you want) import your contacts from Outlook Express when you set it up. It has a fairly good built in spam filter which you can set up to filter stuff to a spam folder, and if it misses something it will learn/remember it if/when you flag it as spam.
And as others have said, clicking the 'unsubscribe' in most spam emails will only validate your email address as valid and probably generate more.
Just my $0.02 worth.
When my hearing deteriorated I started getting hearing aid ads. I accused Mrs. JimRed of putting me on a list; she denies it. I don't recall ever searching hearing aids online. Now I have them and I get 2-3 mailings a week from other HA companies, along with the online ones.
And there's a whole raft of lovely young Russian and Ukrainian gals who wanna meet me, too!
Outlook EXPRESS? Are you serious?
The most recent version came out in 2001.
Buy Office Professional 2007 used for $60.00 or less and install Outlook.
It will except spam filters.
Good luck!
This ONE weird trick eliminates unwanted emails...Advertisers HATE it!
I have several email addresses. I can give the fakes to people I don’t know. Where’s the beach@ gopoundsand.com
