WEll, these should have S/Ns and MAC addresses in the inventory records.
Apple should be able to shut them all down, with some cooperation I would think.

Snatch and Grab thieves grab 17 iPhones, iPads and two computers from the Corte Madera, California, Apple Store valued up to $24,000. Unfortunately for the thieves, it is simple for Apple to brick everyone of those devices. In addition, all of the devices except the two computers are dedicated demo locked and password protected already. Good luck getting into the devices without the user names and passwords. Apple can completely lock and brick them before the thieves can sell them for any purpose other than spare parts. That's what we did when a burglar stole $10k worth of Apple computers from my office. If the thieves turn them on, the authorities should be able to locate the stolen devices, and them, is this not so?

Mementos. Relics.
Something to bring back memories 5-10 years from now, from when Apple was a big deal and cool.

Is there such a thing as a Thunderbolt 2 “thumb drive” that would transfer data at the 20gbs speed versus my USB 3 port of 5gbs speed ? Routinely carry a 1TB thumb drive with media, backups etc when I travel an was wondering if such a Thunderbolt Thumb Drive exists ?

It should be easy to develop but no one has seen the need to make one. Apple has gotten away from Thunderbolt on their newer MacBooks opting for the USB-C/Thunderbolt combination connectors so I doubt there will be any incentive to make one. Too bad, it would have been an ideal device.
There are some very small Thunderbolt external flash Hard drives.

If the thieves turn them on, the authorities should be able to locate the stolen devices, and them, is this not so? They can Brick them AND locate all of the stolen devices to within 3 feet. They all have GPS devices in them that once activated by the FindMy Device cannot be turned off. Oops, thieves, you are owned by the police.
