BLANCHESTER, OH (FOX19) -
A crying woman was found captive in a pit dug in her neighbor's backyard shed early Wednesday, police say.
Dennis Dunn, 45, was arrested and charged with her kidnapping.
Officers first responded to the Blanchester neighborhood at 1:30 a.m. after a woman reported her daughter, Jennifer Elliott, missing from a Central Avenue home, according to Blanchester Police Chief Scott Reinbolt.
A neighbor called to report hearing cries from a backyard shed around 4 a.m. The first officer who arrived also heard the cries, which led him to the shed.

Now break his legs with a 2X4.
Human debris.
Jeeze, something about Ohio lately.
Has the world gone mad or has it always been this way and we just didn’t have the internet and a constant news cycle.
I REFUSE to believe there were this many heinous scumbags running around the planet 100 years ago. People don’t believe in hell anymore and it became a license to do anything you want to anybody you want any time you want because the worst thing you could experience is death (or a long prison term).
When people believed in hell, they didn’t do this stuff because they feared the consequences. Now it is “all bets are off”.
We need the 2nd coming of Christ, sooner than later.
I’m a guardian of the galaxy in Southern Ohio. Semper Fi, Space Marines.
What I have learned is that yes, these sickos have been around for a THOUSAND years and many of them rule over us. Sometimes the hacks like this guy get caught.
I have no doubt that thousands of women and children are trafficked and murdered right under our noses every year.
Wow. That was the first thing I thought of.
Loser
Before the Internet you would never have heard about this.
Haven’t had a girl-in-a-pit story in quite a while
So true. There’s been sick and twisted evil people for a very long time.
The world’s population has doubled since 1969. The percentage of Evil folks is likely the same, but there are twice as many now, and we get to hear about ALL of them nowadays.
It’s also about time for another idiot-stuck-in-a-chimney story. It’s been almost a year.
100 years ago, he would have been dropped down the booby hatch. Rather ironic in this case. Thank JFK for warehousing the mental cases in the community.
Well there was an unshaved pits story - Moldylocks, the ANTIFA riot bimbo
“I REFUSE to believe there were this many heinous scumbags running around the planet 100 years ago.”
We never read about more than three or four child deaths in hot cars every year, but there are on average more than 30 each year.
Bad for publication revenue, now and then?
They shot them back in the day.
Hang on.
Hang on — this “keeping a woman in a pit’ thing ... is that actually illegal?
I’m ... asking for a friend.
But our culture is so much more inclined to poor behavior today.
Way back when, everybody was on the family farm until you died, and everybody in the family knew exactly what everybody else was up to. Ditto for small town life where everybody knew everybody. This close association restricted criminal opportunity and when people conducted criminal behavior, they were outed about town almost immediately.
Today, we are so mobile and spread out all over the country, anonymity gives criminals and evil people a myriad of constant opportunity, and they often don’t get caught or “outed” for quite a while. Even when they get caught, you still don’t know all the instances where they get away with it.
Now add to this the fact that many don’t believe in Hell today when they did way back when. Having your everlasting soul confined to eternal damnation in Hell was quite a disincentive for many, many people. Even criminal types and evil types.
It is different today. Our culture makes it far easier to misbehave and to get away with it when you do. I am not saying human nature changes, so you are probably right that the ratio of good and evil people in society is probably similar today as it was 100 years ago. The thing is, culture has changed and that is causing a lot more of the evil people and the “well everybody does it” crowd to behave badly, or at least worse than ever before.
