UnitedHealth’s first-quarter profit soared 35 percent as the nation’s biggest health insurer slashed participation in Affordable Care Act exchanges but grew just about every other part of its business.

The insurer also hiked its 2017 earnings forecast on Tuesday, and company shares started climbing shortly after it detailed results.

Enrollment in Medicare Advantage plans and the state- and federally funded Medicaid coverage both swelled for UnitedHealth, which also continued to grow an Optum segment that sells several services outside the company’s core health insurance.

Operating earnings from that insurance businesses climbed 15 percent to $2.1 billion, even though UnitedHealth’s individual enrollment plunged as it withdrew from nearly all the Affordable Care Act’s health insurance exchanges. The insurer pulls in most of its enrollment from group insurance coverage offered through employers. …

So basically my increases are going to stay but they’ll drop out of the ACA act.

Amazing how that usually happens.

I’m sure the drop in rates is right around the corner /s

It is not the Affordable Care Act. Obama proudly proclaimed it as his signature legislation and thought is was pretty to have it called ObamaCare, which is unaffordable.

Health insurance is eating right and exercising.

Medical Insurance is what you purchase for unexpected medical care...

My premiums went to over $1000 a month this year, so I told BCBS to shove it.

I spent Over $18k last year on their sorry ‘insurance’, went o the doctor and late in Dec to the ER, and they didn’t pay a damn thing.........

So now that money is going into the bank so it’ll be there when needed................SCREW THEM ALL!...............

What happens when there are no more insurers and we are still obligated to comply with the mandate?

Don't ya love a government bureaucracy.

They’re the best /s

REPEAL and don’t replace what you shouldn’t have power over!

Then we’d see rates drop.

Glad to see United shares soar on my soaring premium.

Some of these health insurance companies helped Obozo write the ACA...was United one of them?

Love it...help the government write law to force people to purchase your product. Wow! Just Wow!

It is bad!

And proof that once a bureaucracy gets established, it is impossible to get rid of it.
