The biggest news out of Star Wars Celebration may have been the release of the hotly anticipated first teaser for Episode VIII, The Last Jedi, but despite the major secrecy surrounding the upcoming film, that wasn’t the only Star Wars revelation to come out of this weekend. Here’s what else we learned:

Despite statements from Fisher's family to the contrary, the late Carrie Fisher will not appear in Episode IX.

And it looked weird.

Carrie Fisher was CGIed in that movie as well. She on screen for maybe ten seconds, spoke one word and yet it was obvious that it was not her.

CGI has advanced greatly but for doing real people it still has quite a ways to go.

Glad to see somebody else noticed that. Her facial expressions were also pretty wooden.

I thought she’d had a stroke and had not fully recovered from it.

According to her biography in Wikipedia, she had suffered for decades from bipolar disorder and was getting electro shock therapy every six weeks for a long period.

The Star Wars franchise is dead to me. “The Force Awakens” showed Disney has once again killed all the creativity and entertainment of the original trilogy’s excellence.

On the other hand, we have this to which we can look forward:

I agree. I wanted to put a darth choke hold on JJ Abrams for making that recycled story line pile of crap.

I thought the original Star Wars movie (Episode IV?) was great, and I like “Empire Strikes Back”. Sadly, “Return of the Jedi” made it clear this was all about selling goofy toys...and it was all downhill from there. Now they are Disney political cartoons, with “otherized” misfits fighting the white power structure.

I sincerely wish I could care as much about these movies as I did when I was a kid and the first ones came out - it was a lot of fun. I hope kids today are as excited about Star Wars as we were back then.

Much of the fun of the original Star Wars film was the retro nature of the original series (particularly that first film). It brought back the style of cliffhanger serials of the 40's, as did Raiders of the Lost Ark. The 70's had been a decade of "serious, thought provoking" films, and along comes a Saturday matinee-styled movie that brought out the kid in everyone. Now that Star Wars is so prevalent, it seems to have lost its sense of fun. For me, anyway.

Thanks; I really was a fan, but now these newer ones are bizarre.

Not sure where you're getting that from, but to each his own. I prefer to just enjoy the movie.

The second set of 3 (I through III?) were unwatchable, and the 7th was the 1st one all over again. You’re right; to each his own.
