California
The Governor of California is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks the Governors dog, then bites the Governor.
The Governor starts to intervene, but reflects upon the movie Bambi and then realizes he should stop because the coyote is only doing what is natural.
He calls animal control. Animal Control captures the coyote and bills the state $200 testing it for diseases and $500 for relocating it.
He calls a veterinarian. The vet collects the dead dog and bills the State $200 testing it for diseases.
The Governor goes to hospital and spends $3,500 getting checked for diseases from the coyote and on getting his bite wound bandaged.
The running trail gets shut down for 6 months while Fish & Game conducts a $100,000 survey to make sure the area is now free of dangerous animals.
The Governor spends $50,000 in state funds implementing a coyote awareness program for residents of the area.
The State Legislature spends $2 million to study how to better treat rabies and how to permanently eradicate the disease throughout the world.
The Governors security agent is fired for not stopping the attack. The state spends $150,000 to hire and train a new agent with additional special training re the nature of coyotes.
PETA protests the coyotes relocation and files a $5 million suit against the state.
Texas
The Governor of Texas is jogging with his dog along a nature trail. A coyote jumps out and attacks his dog.
The Governor shoots the coyote with his state-issued pistol and keeps jogging. The Governor has spent $.75 on a .45 ACP hollow point cartridge.
The buzzards eat the dead coyote.
And that, my friends, is why California is broke and Texas is not.
LOL
Ugh, Texas Governor Greg Abbott is in a wheelchair.
Yes Virginia there is a Texas
Are wheelchairs not allowed on Texas nature trails?
So coyotes will continue to run rampant in Texas for a few years or some citizen jogger will shoot it... big picture.
True, but the previous governor, Rick Perry, did exactly what was stated in the story. I'm not sure that his weapon was state issued, though.
I heard this story, but the guy had a hook on his foot...
This story LIES!
Rick didn’t use a .45 ACP!
He used a .380 ACP!
The ultimate irony is that CA is not broke. The state is wallerin’ in money.
The problem is they SPEND every dime as soon as it comes in the door.
Whereas my understanding is that Texas is nearly broke, because their citizens get to keep THEIR money.
California discourages and punishes free enterprise.
Texas encourages and rewards free enterprise.
I remember the days when California was a conservative state.
Make California Great Again! (MCAGA)
Great movie ...
fyi You’ll love this one.
Yeah, Calif is not broke.
And Texas has no state income tax.
BTW - I’ve lived in both places, and while my head is Californian, my heart’s Texan all the way).
Unless Texas forbids relocation by new residents from California and other left-infested states, it will fall the same way those states did.
The article is based on a true story, but Rick Perry was the Texas Governor at the time.
Love it !
And Texas has a rainy day fund, while Cali doesn’t...
True, but the previous governor, Rick Perry, did exactly what was stated in the story. I’m not sure that his weapon was state issued, though.
Perry’s accomplishment was pretty close to the story, but the pistol was his own, a Ruger LCP in .380 ACP. Ruger issued a “coyote special” version to commemorate the event.

Can we just substitute “coyote” with “hippy”?
