A motorcycle rider has been decapitated in a freak accident in San Bernardino.
Authorities say 27-year-old Fabian Zepeda was killed Tuesday morning when he drove into a wire stretched across a road from a snapped utility pole.

A sad story but the last line really caught my attention. "The driver didn't appear to be intoxicated and wasn't immediately arrested pending further investigation, police said."
Arrested for what?

The driver of the Ford Taurus who hit the utility pole was not arrested or intoxicated they mean, rather than the motorcyclist.

This is a very poorly written article. I think the comment about the driver not being arrested was referencing the driver of the Taurus not the victim.

No offense to anyone here on FR who rides a motorcycle, but I think you really have to be insane to operate any kind of motor vehicle that leaves you so exposed to the elements like that.
Every couple of years we have a fatality in my neck of the woods involving a motorcyclist hitting an animal. The usual culprits are deer, but a few years ago we had one involving a motorcycle hitting a wild turkey.

A couple of years ago a guy down the road from me hit a strand of fence wire while he was tearing through a field on a snowy night on his snowmobile.

by NTSB statistics, one is 34x as likely to die per mi driven
on a motorcycle vs a passenger car
If one is not at peace with those statistics,
don't get on the bike
It's like any other high risk behavior
