CNN Analyst on Syria: Trump has ‘burned all his supporters in spectacular fashion’
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 04/08/2017 12:41:23 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Talk about making lemons out of lemonade. On CNN today Josh Rogin tried his best to paint President Trump’s decision to order strikes against Syria in the worst possible light.

The CNN analyst made the claim that by ordering the strikes, Trump “burned all his supporters in spectacular fashion.”

It’s true that some prominent supporters, notably Ann Coulter, are displeased. But “all” Trump’s supporters? Or even most of them? Surely, a significant majority of people who support Trump support the strikes.

Welcome back and remember your baby aspirin!

I’m FAR from not supporting Trump anymore.

That’s insane.

And you people that scream NeverTrumper!! make it worse. The name calling on both sides, which I admittedly succumbed to, don’t help.

The only perfect person I ever heard of died 2000 years ago for my sins.

Everyone else is fallible.

To treat Trump otherwise is unfair to him and us.

I’m thrilled, pleased and proud of CIC Trump for taking immediate action without informing or seeking permission from the other 535 wanna-be president’s.

CIC sent the proper message to Assad and to other evil foes and shocked the hell out of the Left-wing news media too.

BTTT

This shift is excellent evidence that the attack was a mistake that will complete the coup against Trump.

Since I’m in Oregon and not an inner circle in D.C. I don’t have proof. But I’ve found Catherine Herridge pretty reliable.

I suspect he does not. And that's the 2D version. This is 4D Chess we're talking about, and there's more than two players when you get right down to it. That Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq was all ready to sign, and Iraq was willing. Barry wasn't, and here we are. One giant mess to clean up, compliments of Øbama. And what dismays me the most, is the reaction of some people here. Did they just think that Trump would walk into DC and pull the stopper and, presto, swamp drained. Did they expect him to flip a switch and make all the troubles, go away? 😖

If it wasn’t for FR and trips through airports, I would never hear from the Communist News Network.

Since, I don’t fly anymore, Free Republic is the only place I get insulted several times a day by the lying CNN mediots.

The wise ones who know me like you know I respond emotionally the first day to whatever incident arises. :)

Then as reason and thinking sink in, my opinion evens out.

#### it. Syria is already attacking the same town again WITHOUT chemical weapons and it sent a message to leaders that Trump doesn’t mind swinging the ax.

I’m not a #NeverTrumper or a concern troll.

I’m a bit of a maniac and too emotional and quick to react. Has caused a lot of trouble in my life!

“In the meantime, FR is poisoned and tarnished by them.”

Yes, that’s true, and we see much the same problem with “conservative posters” as we do with our government. I believe in the direction of the Freedom Caucus. That said, as Trump has postulated, we do need to govern, and to do that we do need to compromise. Part of it is that we have far too many “Republican legislators” whose ‘heart is in their contributors pockets,” making their side of the needed compromise suspect. At the same time, some of the FC people are not willing to compromise on much of anything, or so it seems. And so it is here on FR, with people who are so hide-bound to their narrow line of thinking ( which, unfortunately hasn’t been at all tempered by the last eight years ), that they want to throw in the towel on Trump at the first sign of what they view as heresy. I’m not in favor of any more military adventurism in the ME, but I am willing to give the new President some latitude to try and craft an overall foreign policy strategy that will keep us safe from ALL of our adversaries. To do so, we do have to gain back the respect of the rest of the whole world that Obola pissed away. The mess we have in the ME is attributable to Boosh I, Clinton, Boosh II AND Obola. And that goes ditto for Korea, but you need to throw in a few more presidents who didn’t attend to what needed to be done decades ago.

Good post! Saved me the trouble of a long response.

For the record: I don’t even feel warmed, let alone *burned* and CNN will never speak for me.

Yes, executing Obama’s foreign policy and aiding ISIS is highly problematic. Unless you are one of the Lindsey Graham type of “Trump supporter”.

Bombing Syria because of Assad's use of chemical weapons is the exact opposite of Obama's foreign policy. If you'll recall, Obama didn't do jack sh!t about it.

Additionally, Obama also helped arm ISIS, another important distinction.

It's quite feasible that both entities act against the interests of the US, and therefore they can both be punished when it's warranted.

Sorry to bother you with reality. Please return to your absurd propaganda...

Is Trump still Putin’s puppet, or have the know-it-alls dropped that one for now?

Apparently, not. But it’s clear many of his sunshine “supporters” continue their fantasies about the righteousness of the KGB filth running Russia.

I’m one of those Trump supporters who feels burned in a spectacular way.

I’ve seen no conclusive proof that Assad did this. I’ve seen no conclusive proof that the poison (chlorine gas) was delivered by aircraft. Could have been done by indirect fire means.

No, I’m not happy with this. I think the neo-cons goaded him into it.

It’s clear now that there will never be enough “evidence” for folks with your isolationist agenda.

If you want a diminished America and a world dominated by the likes of one party state fascist Russia and Death to America Iran I suggest you vote Democrat.

Maybe the conservatives even primary Trump, but that would seem a bad idea to me, at least at this point.

Concur; these problems need solving, not being kicked down the road. If President Trump can find a way to prevent:
  1. North Korea from launching missiles, especially nuclear missiles
  2. Iran from launching missiles, especially nuclear missiles
  3. Syria from normalizing the use of chemical weapons
then he will be our most successful President since FDR/Truman.
