The problem is the writers are too stupid and lazy to create interesting new super heroes. Just like hollywood all they can do is ride the coattails of previous success. They cannot actually replicate it with new ideas. I suspect that they also know that any new superhero whose primary purpose is to showcase diversity would absolutely tank. Its far easier to blame a reboots unpopularity on homophobic clingers than to face the reality that absolutely no one has any interest in such BS.

Translation: “We tried to force a cultural and political agenda on our fans and we can’t figure out why our sales are down.”

"Oh almost forgot $6 and $9 books for fewer pages of less compelling stories."

For a comic book?! Are you for real?

I haven't priced a comic book for over 50 years ... they were a quarter to a buck in price back then. AND you got SGT Fury and his Howling Commandos or The Haunted Tank ... great stuff.

“Marvel’s vice president of sales has blamed declining comic-book sales on the studio’s efforts to increase diversity and female characters, saying that readers “were turning their noses up” at diversity and “didn’t want female characters out there”.”

Yeah, your loss of sales is the fault of readers who refuse to be force-fed your leftist agenda. Too bad they’re ignorant, racist, sexist, xenophobic, homophobes and can’t be as enlightened as Marvel writers./sarc.

If readers want this type of garbage they can subscribe to the NY Slimes. Why would they pay for comic books with this kind of kookery? (Although, come to think of it, the Slimes sometimes approaches comic book genre itself.)

I hope Marvel ends up having to file for bankruptcy.

Throwing all this at us (I’m female) at once is just far too much, and stretches credulity. How did we go from all white(?) guys with no noticeable religious or even “sexual” tendencies to every kind of person there could be, including those who made a choice to be what they are?

If an enemy wanted to destabilize the Western world; doing this in comics, tv, and movies would be a good way to do it.

It bothers me greatly that hollyweird is pushing the gay agenda on every tv show and movie produced these days without a warning about porn. Seeing two guys or two girls kiss for more than a split second is porn. It's not normal behavior for humans to be gay; it's a lifestyle choice for most gay people today. They say 1 in 5 millennials are gay now but just a couple days ago the stats for the general population was less than 3% of the population was gay and now it's 20%!!?

This is social engineering and it's harmful to the kids. It's literally pedophilia to push this narrative on the young and impressionable with the singular goal of normalizing an abhorrent behavior; homosexuality. It's porn and it's pedophilia and they don't even put a warning at the beginning of a program like they would if there were nudity or harsh language.

By undermining the morality of the young our enemies are doing in just a couple of generations what they could not do for thousands of years. They are defeating us from within by warping the minds of future generations so they can just walk right in and take over without hardly a shot being fired.

The younger generations will just say us old fogies just don't get it. Thankfully I'm hearing gen Z may be the most conservative since WWII. This may be the one thing that can save us from ourselves if this gay push into our living rooms through tv is not squashed soon.

Yep - Last 10 years they’ve gone nuts. It’s actually cheaper for me to buy the older issues (I can get a decent silver age for $3 on eBay, not near mint, but still) than the new ones ... which given the stories are better I do ... in droves.

Industry average is ~3.75 now, but Marvel has split theirs to two bands, one between 4-6 and the other at 9. Neither is worth it. Between not having the best talent (writers/artists which they drove with the Image exodus years ago), screwing with established characters, and the pricing I expect a major overhaul there shortly.

Excellent book based in WWII where the tank is Haunted by the ghost of none other than J.E.B. Stuart. (’61-’87):

Agreed. I am female too, and am a die-hard Marvel fan.

My sons and I collected the good old comics while they were growing up. We still have them and I am still a sucker for Captain America. They get together and take me to the movies as they come out. We have a great time.

Marvel can add all the new characters they want. They will either succeed or not on their own.

But when they start all the PC social engineering nonsense with the established heroes, they are going to lose those fans.

Great comic.

I believe there were three stories in each book.

One was The Haunted Tank. Another was an Indian P-51 fighter pilot. I can’t remember the third.

I remember when they were twelve cents.

Another favorite was The M.A.R.S. Patrol.

They were a combined arms team fighting these aliens who were bald and wore purple uniforms.

Great for rainy days.

These are stupid:

Female Thor?
- Thor is male, and changing him is just politically correct nonsense. Few people would see that as anything beyond manipulation.

A black teenager Iron Man?
- Same thing. Hint - Ironman is already developed. They could create a new character, with somewhat similar but not identical traits, but that’s not what they are doing.

A biracial Spider-Man?
- Spiderman’s race was irrelevant when he was created, but it’s been decided. He’s a white kid, and that should not change. If they want a biracial superhero, have another kid bitten by a radioactive whatever, but make him a completely different character.

A Muslim teenage girl Ms Marvel?
- Again, they are pandering. Even kids (especially kids?) recognize that and resent it.

Exactly. I never got hugely into comics because I would rather spend my entertainment money on books, but I’ve read and enjoyed many in passing. For me, it’s not the diversity, it’s 1) replacing an existing character with a Diverse! New! Version! and then 2) telling everybody who dislikes the change what racist scum they are. I’m totally gonna give my money to somebody who insults me, yup...

Sounds like what happened to the second season on of Super Girl.
Our family had to stop watching the show.
Advertisers must love losing audience that have money to spend.
