Right now this tech isn't a big enough target for malware. When it grows to a size worth attacking, it's going to be messy. And the deeper these systems go into one's organic components, the uglier it will be.

If the implant improved me, made me faster, or stronger or more efficient in some way, then it would be worth it. But this just helps someone else.

Yep, such implants and GPS trackers onboard autos are the perfect ID method for getting rid of “undesirables” when stop lights are set up with poison gas emitters that are automatically triggered by such ID, and which make it look like the victim(s) died of heart attacks a couple of hours later.
