Donald Trump slams Freedom Caucus on Twitter, says Democrats will ‘make a deal’
Global News ^ | March 27, 2017 | Kevin Nielsen

President Donald Trump continued to nurse a grudge against the Freedom Caucus as he lashed out against the ultra-right wing of the Republican Party on Twitter Monday, while also promising cooperation from the Democrats on health care.

Earlier Monday, White House spokesman Sean Spicer suggested Trump might turn to members of the Democratic Party to overhaul Obamacare and the U.S. president seconded that notion on Twitter Monday night.

Trump said the Freedom Caucus of the GOP, known as a particularly right-wing segment of Republican lawmakers, snatched “defeat from the jaws of victory” after Trump-backed health care legislation was pulled off the table on Friday in an embarrassing moment for the party.

Democrats won’t agree to anything other than moving to single payer.

At one time Trump supported that. Perhaps he still does.

hahaha, calm down. Read what I wrote above. It took him 16 days to see where everyone stands and how to play each against the other. He’s not as dumb as everyone wants to believe he is. He became the President of the United States while using less than a third of the money and having “everyone who matters” against him. Calm down

I lay all of this at the feet of the incompetent and disloyal Ryan, but is it not also true that the Freedom Caucus was overrepresented in the ranks of the Never Trumpers?

Yes, that’s true, and they also aren’t going to help him because they hate his guts, and their base hates his guts.

They will help him get impeached and tossed out of office, but beyond that nope.

I feel for him though, because trying to get the GOP to do anything is utterly futile.

No one knows this better than us.

I would say it’s like trying to herd cats, but cats are far, far more brave than anyone in the GOP, and I don’t want to insult cats by comparing them to the likes of the GOP.

Please note my tagline applies as much to Republicans and Conservatives as it does to Democrats and the Media. There is an upside, but a downside as well, to electing someone who has no real political roots or core philosophy. Donald Trump is a pragmatist and nationalist who most enjoys winning, at everything. We didn't nominate and elect Barry Goldwater or even another former Liberal Democrat named Ronald Reagan.

Trump may at some point realize that the FC saved him from walking off a political cliff, but for now the sting and embarrassment of losing is still too sharp for that. And one thing that was clear in the primaries, whatever his fine points (and they're many) Donald Trump is not gracious when he loses.

The way I see it Trump burned ME - maybe I’ll join with the Democrats and support his impeachment along with the rest of the GOPe.

Trump you’re only in that office because of conservatives like me. Burn us at your own peril because you don’t have no wiggle room.

The FC saved the GOP from jumping off a bridge with that silly, ineffective health care bill.

I don't know why Donald Trump would care about it one way or another. He was basically negotiating to buy a run-down housing project in Chicago, thinking it would make a good sister to his Mar-A-Lago resort.

I love you Mr. President but getting democrat support for something the only real conservatives in Congress balked at is all you need to know about that particular path. Period.

I got a feeling his next rally won’t be so well attended if he keeps this up.

NO doubt! Interesting who embraces, and who he gives the finger to.

He doesn’t seem to understand, that when he attacks the FC, he’s attacking a good portion of his base.

Many of the RINOs in the House represent districts that Trump lost to Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. It’s nice to have Republicans in those seats, but I don’t know why you’d ever let people like that drive your agenda.

Trump doesn’t see that. His people probably read FR and see posters still strongly approving of whatever he does and thinks it will continue

It won’t.

The Founder of this site has already said he wants a Repeal..not that crap Ryan was trying to peddle.

And there are plenty here that are on red alert due to Jaime Gorelick and his Dem daughter and son in law.

One thing about Obama.... he always aligned with his base. If Trump doesn’t stay aligned with his base, he’ll lose them.

And then....he’ll be a like a fish out of water. IMO, he’s being influenced way too much by Reince Priebus. I’m beginning to fear the establishment is still in charge....

President Trump needs to drop the feud with the Freedom Caucus, meet with them privately about healthcare, and focus publicly on taxation changes and infrastructure.

We are down to 18 house members trying to save this country and President Trump attacks them on Twitter? Maybe President Trump should actually drain the swamp instead of enjoying swimming in it.

I wasn’t happy with ryancare either. But you’ve got to understand beltway politics isn’t a buffet. We can’t pick and choose when to support POTUS when he is under nuclear attack from all sides. His entire agenda is in jeopardy now because of the arsonists in the freedom caucus.

The never Trumpers who did little to support the defeat of Hillary are now intent on backseat driving the Trump admin into the ditch. Don’t buy the fools gold they are selling, FRiend.

You are at this point justified in your bad feeling on this—Trump’s behavior on this has been appalling.
