President Donald Trump continued to nurse a grudge against the Freedom Caucus as he lashed out against the ultra-right wing of the Republican Party on Twitter Monday, while also promising cooperation from the Democrats on health care.
Earlier Monday, White House spokesman Sean Spicer suggested Trump might turn to members of the Democratic Party to overhaul Obamacare and the U.S. president seconded that notion on Twitter Monday night.
Trump said the Freedom Caucus of the GOP, known as a particularly right-wing segment of Republican lawmakers, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory after Trump-backed health care legislation was pulled off the table on Friday in an embarrassing moment for the party.

“...like a cruzhole scorned”
Actually, as a WI resident, I had the pleasure of voting for both as winners.
Cruz beat Trump like a drum in the WI primary.
Then I, like WI as a whole, did the only mature thing at that point and voted for Trump in the general. Enthusiastically.
This we did even though Trump was a complete jackass to WI and our beloved governor - if we could buy a mountain cheap, Walker’s goofy face would be on it. Which is why the prez was beaten badly here, not because of any special state-wide affection for Cruz, who I personally do like generally.
If Trump was as smart as supposed and as dimensionally-advantaged, then I would think he’d have Pence looking into Cruz’s latest idea. Which is to do this HC thing right from the beginning without the pain of the long drum roll phase 2 and the Charlie Brown on his back again phase 3 as was certain to result from the poison-is-good-for-you phase 1.
I actually like the latest Cruz plan. The effect of using nukes. But less future-dangerous in that it requires a party to control both the Executive and Legislative branches as the Republicans do for the moment anyway.
Anyway, I voted for both men and was victorious in both cases.
With no regrets. Till the Trump/RyanCare debacle.
The rest is history, including the extra 40 years of wandering in the wilderness. Arrrg. Interesting times we are in.
The bill for Trumps major agenda item was a piece of crap. In case you are you aren’t aware , stopping bad legislation is often as or MORE important than pushing “new”.
I applaud the FC for stopping this flaming turd from going forward.
Yes. It’s the plan I want for myself. It’s the plan I have for myself.
Hospital insurance for catastrophic care and I’m responsible for my own health.
Which Im sure is a foreign concept to you.
It’s fun watching you wiggle and squirm like a good little lib though.
“You’re deflecting! you’re ignoring me! You’re plan is stupid!”
Good god man - enslaving the population so you can eat cheetos, surf the web all day and have your heart attack covered for free isn’t liberty, progressive or sane. It’s just sloth.
“So what youre saying is that the Republicans won the election because Trump is better Democrat than Hillary. And that Rush Limbaughs line conservatism wins every time its tried is so much hooey.”
Rush is in business to make money. Off of you.
As for every time it’s tried, where have you been? 2010. Nevada. Republican conservative firebrand Sharron Angle vs Harry Reid. He won by nearly 6%. Not close. And Nevada wasn’t all that blue then. We have a present GOP senator from there, elected 2 years later in 2012.
So much for every time it’s tried.
Now right about now there will be some wiggling around to find some excuse that surely won’t happen again. But words mean things. “Every time it’s tried” means EVERY time it’s tried. Good words to generate advertising income from the right wing.
She lost by almost 6%. Every Time It’s Tried.
You started a thread on this the other day and I meant to include you as a recipient of #157.
“ultra” right; “particularly right-wing”
arch, extreme, far, etc. How come we never see these adjectives applied to the left?
As far as I’m concerned, the Freedom Caucus are my guys. Conservatives like us brought President Trump to this dance.
Tread carefully here Mr. Trump. Repeal the Affordable Care act, then replace it.
It’s not that complicated, and it’s what you promised to do. Don’t go wobbly.
Yes, I agree. We don’t delude ourselves about what Trump is and has been. He’s been an intemperate man with his actions. He’s also seen some thing the way we do. We are fortunate to have him.
Folks forget that we are all human. None of us get it right 100% of the time. We shoot for it. We fail.
Trump is no different, and he shouldn’t be judged any differently than ourselves. I get down on myself for things I’ve done, but then I don’t give up on myself. I still expect good things out of me. I’ll again try to do my best and fail again at times. That’s life. It’s the life of a Christian, and I don’t try to set myself up as the best Christian around. I recognize my flaws. I recognize myself in Trump and visa versa.
We will get much good from this man, and at times we’ll be the ones complaining by the short of the Red Sea, or perhaps doing something similar to building idols while he communes with others to develop the best policies for the nation.
Trump has not taken out his staff an struck the rock yet.
I don’t expect him to. If he does, I’ll address it frankly.
Thanks!
Good for you!
Does your answer = take money out of my pocket for other people's health care?
“Yes. Its the plan I want for myself. Its the plan I have for myself.”
So you want everybody else to have YOUR plan...you’re so responsible you know that you will not have a heart attack tomorrow, but if you do, you have the money to pay for the operation. Just don’t have another attack right? But you are so responsible that you know you won’t.
And of course you turned down Medicare and or will refuse it when you come of age..right?
So tell me..how does the working man, family of 4, no money to speak of in the bank, survive on your plan? This is the plan that the Freedom Caucus wants to give to the American worker?
Seriously...is this THE plan?
ps: You don’t know a thing about me, and you couldn’t be more wrong but I wonder how old you are because if you are over 65 or disabled then you are on Medicare(or wealthy) and if you are close to age and saying you will not take Medicare, than you are just a LIAR!!!
“Does your answer = take money out of my pocket for other people’s health care?”
NO.I have always paid my way...what is the plan Freedom Caucus has for the American worker 30 days after repealing ObamaCare?
Please...just tell me what their plan is!!
Actually you have NO CHOICE after the age of 65 you must accept Medicare because insurance companies WONT insure you except for supplemental ins. I for one WOULD PREFER to stay on my own insurance BECAUSE I would NEVER know when the government would START rationing my care!!! What the government givith the government can taketh away!!!!
This was no normal election, so the usual disappointments for the usual and predictable reasons can’t be applied as usual.
He certainly is exposing what has been business as usual in D.C., though. There will be zero excuse for people to unwittingly support the evil Establishment because ‘they didn’t know better’ or ‘they meant well’.
I think that’s a big part of this seemingly chaotic narrative. Many demons, false witnesses, and false accusers are exposed, as well as their fan bases.
Whatever you say, Jeb.
Their plan IS free market health care, co-ops, insurance across state lines, high risk pools, tort reform, and most if all government the HELL out of our healthcare!!! I am very surprised at how many there are on this site that seem to be OK with K-street, Chamber of Commerce, and insurance industry benefiting from this bill out of the gate, BUT the rest of Americans being put on HOLD until God knows when if EVER!!!!
“Actually you have NO CHOICE after the age of 65 you must accept Medicare”
You won’t have to worry about that at all, because I have it on good authority that ALL Federal Government health plans are illegal and MUST be eliminated!!
“you must accept Medicare” that’s not true...you can keep your group plan instead.
And I will ask you the same question...what is the Freedom Caucus plan for 30 days after they repeal ObamaCare?
“Their plan IS free market health care, co-ops, insurance across state lines, high risk pools, tort reform,”
Please show me the link to this plan...show me what the plan looks like 30 days after they repeal ObamaCare.
What you have listed is NOT a plan ...it’s a bunch of ideas, many good ideas...but it is not a plan to transition the American worker to affordable health care in 30 days.
I happen to agree with many of the ideas, but where America is right now, these ideas cannot stand alone. I could care less about K-Street, I care about the millions of American workers who will be left out in the cold.
I want to know what the Freedom Caucus plan is, the one they, their families and their staff in DC promise to use themselves!
I agree with your thoughts there also.
Going all religion isn’t something I do very much, but at times it is interesting to look at some of the parallels in the Old Testament.
I am convinced we are told of people like Abraham, David, John the Baptist’s father (New Testament), so that we will understand that perfection was not required for Man to be chosen by God, or to be the person He would promise to be the father of generations, or even an elevated servant of the Christ.
We all too often get discouraged thinking we cannot meet God’s requirements. Those examples of men did. God accepted their massive flaws, and blessed them.
We must try our best, but we will fail and at times fail miserably.
It’s the human condition.
Jesus Christ was the only perfect Christian, the Divine example of our cause and desires.
Being a Christian only signifies one thing, the folks who follow Christ are focused on being better people, and trying to follow in Christ’s footsteps.
They are not perfect or the only examples of good people in the world.
None the less, God blessed Abraham, David, and Christians who follow Him. That is where our devotion should be focused > IMO.
