Donald Trump slams Freedom Caucus on Twitter, says Democrats will ‘make a deal’

President Donald Trump continued to nurse a grudge against the Freedom Caucus as he lashed out against the ultra-right wing of the Republican Party on Twitter Monday, while also promising cooperation from the Democrats on health care.

Earlier Monday, White House spokesman Sean Spicer suggested Trump might turn to members of the Democratic Party to overhaul Obamacare and the U.S. president seconded that notion on Twitter Monday night.

Trump said the Freedom Caucus of the GOP, known as a particularly right-wing segment of Republican lawmakers, snatched “defeat from the jaws of victory” after Trump-backed health care legislation was pulled off the table on Friday in an embarrassing moment for the party.

But he trusts Ryan - proven liar and backstabber? My representative, Dave Brat, says that Trump did not meet FC’s demands at any stage; he merely offered to take a little crap off the crap sandwich.

I have supported Trump from the time he announced his candidacy and still do. However, he seems to have a fatal flaw - an inability to distinguish between friend and foe. I hope that I am wrong and that this is a one time slip.

I admit I don't see his immediate or long-term strategy here on this one, but, like you and all of us here, I wasn't privy to the negotiations and promised agreements either.

We don't know the tone of the talks, arguments, agreements and disagreements or the sincerity.

I'm going to venture one guess and that involves the overwhelming number of constituent phone calls the Conservative members reported they received.

I totally believe them, but I suspect a very large number of those phone calls were robo calls placed by Soro-paid democrats to make certain this legislation failed.

Note to Trump: The Democrats don’t have the votes in the House or the Senate. Wake up and quit biting the hands that put you in office.

I hear what you're saying, and hope you're right! At the very least he needs to stop dissing the FC! If he keeps this up, his rallies are going to dramatically shrink. His actions as of late are even concerning JimRob, who has posted at least two threads expressing his concerns to Trump. I'll try and step back and regroup. Cheers! ☺

NYT is saying that Republicans are meeting behind closed doors to draft a compromise bill with the Freedom Caucus involved and the moderates in the GOP involved.

Great but they better work quick. The lazy bums in Congress are only working 12 days next month. POTUS wants to use some savings from Ryancare in his tax reform bill. This is all connected.

He met their initial demands and they immediately asked for more.

If true, it was a childish, irresponsible stunt and the burn will last a long time.

Do we have a record of the negotiations or some reliable source?

It doesn't appear Poe actually said the FC moved the goal posts, but perhaps worse, the FC has not yet clearly denied it.

In any event, it appears Trump is needlessly burning an important bridge.

You are wise.

If the FC was so great, why did they nominate & re-nominate Ryan, a known neverTrumper and Obama fluffer?

If the FC was on the up and up, why wasn’t all this bullsh!t hashed out behind closed doors before it “EVER GOT TO THE POINT OF RYANCARE 2.0”? They had 6-7 years to get their crap together...

Notice none of these neo-jerk defenders of the ‘Ryan Caucus’ will answer that question.

Trump is extremely tone deaf to think conservatives are the problem. Wow. He got elected BY conservatives; not mushy moderates.

what the hell is he thinking?

I agree with you. This is how Trump operates.

The FC will either fall in line, fall apart, or become unneeded. Opposing him on his first legislative item has him interested in making a statement for the next 4 years about working together within the party.

While I admire nearly all of the members of the FC and I don’t necessarily love the Trump-Ryan bill, I completely understand what Trump is doing politically.

Basically, he’s lighting up their phones and putting pressure on them politically. I expect this will work, too. Trump could get most of these guys out in a primary with his sway now. Not saying it’s right, but this is not the minor leagues.

He is also going to lose Drudge if he keeps this up.

I don't know about Drudge, but I do know he's losing some of the people who put him in the White House.

The Freedom Caucus is one of the few groups who fight damaging liberal policies....from both Dem and Repubs.

Even a non-politician should understand it's really stupid to flame HFC when they may be the only ones willing to stop the "soft coup" in process, (aka Russia, Russia, Russia) that was pre-planned to get Trump impeached.

BS. This is “Trump vs. Cruz” all over again. If not for a broad coalition of AMERICANS, Trump would not be President (Hillary would be). The FC is just proving all over again why Ted Cruz lost.

WRONG.

But hey, keep supporting Trump in trashing the only people who MIGHT come to his aid when Dems and Rinos try to impeach him over the pre-planned, fake Russia, Russia Russia propaganda.

“Sorry, not buying this BS Trump is calling a “beautiful thing!””

I noticed you avoided answering any of my questions. What’s the matter ...found yourself in a box!! Where’s your free market plan that will take care of all people that lost their employer based plans??

Tell me ...what happens 30 days after the Freedom Caucus repeals ObamaCare...what IS your plan??

Dave Brat’s phones are lit up with constituents thanking him.
If President Trump tries to primary my Congressman that I worked hard to elect to get rid of the weasel Eric Cantor, he will become my political opponent.

“Dave Brat’s phones are lit up with constituents thanking him.”

I’m sure Brat’s district is as far to the right as Pelosi’s district is far to the left...doesn’t mean a damn thing that his phones are lit up.
