Vanity...Just saw shot of White House, there are 8 S. S. guards on roof. Why are they in Black? They stand out as targets. Don't they have white (Winter) camo???

The USSS has a uniformed division that provides much of the security at the WH. A uniformed presence is an important deterrent. Also, if anything happens, uniforms also help prevent fratricide.

It's not as if they'd ever really stop an intruder.
they are meant to be seen. visible security serves as a deterrent. same reason police wear uniforms
I haven’t seen White House security, but at Presidential events, they normally dress in black. It may be to identify them differently than military who are often pulled in for some security
