My fix for Obamacare: 1 Repeal the Obamacare law 2 Allow interstate medical insurance sales 3 Tort reform to reduce liability costs for physicians and hospitals
When I say repeal I mean all of it and now. Let the market float and over the same time period that was to be Obamacare's collapse the market will engineer a replacement. Reduce medical regulation and prices will drop.
Agree. Keep it simple and clear.
Cannot get 60 votes in Senate.
Can get a nuclear option.
Selling insurance across state lines is a STATE issue - there are no federal insurance licenses. Do we really want to undo STATES RIGHTS to that degree?
It is also the insurance company’s choice as to which states in which to seek a license. Some states are easier to deal with - others, not so much.
I’m not sure, but I think allowing federal chartering of banks led to the mega banks we have now.
We should entirely eliminate non-monetary damages.
If insurers are too high, people will not buy it.
The perfect democrat storm;
When the insurers refuse to budge, blame it on big insurance.
Deny insurers of ANY tax shelter.
The problem is not health care .... the problem is the cost of accidents, injuries and diseases that cost money and people don't have the money to pay for the care to fix and repair them.
HOSPITALS may be the biggest bloodsuckers in the room, but I'm not sure.
That won’t fix it. You also need to enforce pricing transparency, enforce the anti-sherman act, patent reform and allow re-importation of drugs from other western countries.
“Let the market float and over the same time period that was to be Obamacare’s collapse the market will engineer a replacement.”
With all due respect, do you guys think that health insurance companies are as easy to start as fast-food joints?
Obamacare destroyed a lot of insurance companies. As in drove them out of business.
Many of our beloved “free market” employers gladly dumped their employees off of the company plan and into this mess to save them a buck.
Still others were forced onto Obamacare or else they would have to pay a tax (thanks, Roberts).
So here we have millions in a total con that with a repeal and a “have a nice day”, what the hell are these people going to use in the time it takes for these insurance companies to form?
And if there are companies to buy from, what happens when supply and demand causes the price for a plan to fly through the roof?
The market isnt going to engineer anything quick enough to make it seamless, so there had better be a plan as to what to do in the meantime or else you are going to have a lot of PO’d people.
Used to work in hospital finance, and the answer to your question is yes they are. Not enough bandwith to post a 200 page thesis as to why. Reforming just the insurance side (ObamaCare) will do little if anything to lower the cost of the delivery of healthcare.
Thank you. I have been a victim of the hospital in my city. It even has a Catholic name, as if that made it charitable.
And in other news I’m going to fully restore a 1972 Ford Pinto. The engine is siezed. It’s completely rusted out. The back end caught on fire. There are no tires or wheels. The windshield is broken and all the side windows have been smashed. The transmission has a hole through it. A pig got stuck in it a few years ago and decomposed in the back seat.
BUT HEY!!! If I put in a few hundred thousand dollars I can restore this automobile and drive around a legendary American car.
If y'get started on that explanation now, it might be ready by Trump's second term ... /8^)

Isn’t that EXACTLY what the *true* purpose of “..to regulate between the States...” SHOULD do?!?!
Why do MEN\elderly need maternity\abortion\etc. coverage? 99% of the plans have SOME sort of ‘dependence’ (drugs\alcohol\mental health) baked in...
Fed should come in a say “plan 1) BARE MINIMUM\catastrophic care, plan 2) Plan 1 & add in 2a, 2b, etc. “...IMO, a la carte the sh!t outta things.

And, like the CIA, NSA, etc. I was the lack of follow-up by govt that allowed the balloon-up (look the other way, sham ‘investigations’, etc.). They rubber stamped every merger request, told THEM “you *MUST* loan to the un-loan’able” and put the taxpayer on the hook for the mess.
I would like someone to explain how to implement the nuclear option for regular bills in the Senate. Right now, to pass a regular bill like repealing the 60 vote requirement, requires 60 votes. Am I wrong? If we had 60 votes to implement the nuclear option, we would not have to repeal the nuclear option. Where am I going wrong?
Can the Senate repeal the 60 vote requirement with 51 votes?
My fix for Obama Care...?
Trump should give every American a waiver like Obama did with Congress. It’s over.
Then you need to add in BAD drugs and products the FDA approved. Many will KILL or cause other health issues.
Forteo is Black Boxed for Bone Cancer, In fact all OP drugs are FLAGGED by the FDA and should be removed from the market.
Nexium causes OP brittle bones and Barrett’s Esophagus which is a pre-cancer. It’s a short term drug, made long term because it actually does work on GERD, but there are those pesky side effects docs don’t tell you about.
Reglan is black boxed for short term use, yet Gastros use it for ever if you don’t react to it extreme Neurological effects.
Meshes for bladder or hernia repair, or that bad product for hip replacements.
Gardasil, Spain, India, Japan have all banned it as to dangerous basically a EUGENICS drug, Bill Gates and Monsanto are being sued over that one, yet the USA keeps pushing the STD VACCINE and that is what it really is a STD, THAT ONLY COVERS 8 OF NEARLY 40 STRAINS OF IT.
There are a endless list of FDA approved drugs or devises that need removing from the market. It it is FDA Flagged it should be removed from the market as to dangerous.
What if you pick up one of those horrid infections from a surgical procedure in the hospital that is not as clean as it looks, should you not be able to sue them for the harm their bad practices caused?
Then you have your DUMB as a box of rocks docs who try to practice outside their training field who can kill you with their lack of proper education. I’m 68 and have dealt with all these idiots for the past decade. And paid the very painful price of their poor training and bad drugs with bad health that needs yet another bad drug to take to counter the other ones. Cataract implant surgeon put in the wrong lens, no way to know until the second one is put in by a different doc. Can’t fix it you’ll go blind. OBW we can do expensive Lasix you fully pay for. Then you will still need multi focal glasses. But it is a ‘cosmetic’ procedure, not a medical need.
Trouble is NO one is listening to real Patients in congress. They are listening to Big Pharma that needs broke up, doctors, lawyers, and hospitals. NOT the Patient who is the end user and pays the price when they get it wrong.
“Why do MEN\elderly need maternity\abortion\etc. coverage? 99% of the plans have SOME sort of dependence (drugs\alcohol\mental health) baked in...”
Reminds me of my dad not being happy having to pay for my sister’s first child out of pocket... He, the secretary and my sister were on his plan - never thought he’d need maternity coverage for 50’s secretary or 30ish unmarried daughter. He sat straight up from a nap when he heard me tell Mom what the NICU cost just for the bed per day. That was mid 80’s.
