Matt must link to Free Republic to highlight the exchange of opinions? Did he post here in the past? Anyone know how long he has linked?
We have had attacks before throughout our existence.
This site and a few million infusion for protections etc would rule the conservative world.
As we are we do pretty good!
I realize as Prez he has ALL types of sources, but there have been more than a few times that he has referenced things that I haven't heard on the MSM, that are fairly well known here.

Yes, I meant the so-called attacks on George W. Bush by folks on FR. Those seem more valid every day.

FR used to be more Wild West. Lucianne and Drudge complained about antisemitism. Lucianne spun off her own forum, hoping to draw off the best FR research people to be her “pretties”. I suspect Lucy wanted this site to be less conservative and more Republican.
You’re right on all counts. I believe he took it down because some folks bashed his site if he didn’t do exactly what they wanted. That’s speculation. I don’t really know. And he restored the link after a year or so.
I found FR thru Drudge back in 97-98 My dad “BB Park” did as well. Drudge used to comment often but stopped around 01-02 and cut the link several times because of stupid freepers... I imagine he still posts incognito...
Me as well, however, I think I just did a search for conservative websites. The website I had been posting to went away, and that search led me to FreeRepublic and have been here ever since.
I can’t remember if I found Free Republic through Drudge or Drudge through Free Republic. Either way I have enjoyed both for close to twenty years.
Not sure how I ended up at FR...but I recall Drudge breaking Watergate and the Vince Forster event.....waited for updates from the mystic Quidam.
For years I was sure FR was “show-prep” for Rush Limbaugh. I’d read a tidbit here that had the potential to be devastating to Clinton, and later that day it would be mentioned by Rush.
I am pretty sure it still is show prep for Rush. I hear a fair amount of stuff that I read on Freerepublic later on Rush’s show.
That Drudge link is how I first found this site.
Clicked on the link at Drudge in 1998 and entered the FReepWorld of Ash, Murrysmom, Ash Alerts, Quidam and “turn off your Italians!”
I found mention of FR on the alt.impeach.clinton newsgroup in 1998.
As for Drudge, the only thing I have against him is his website design that automatically refreshes the page every few minutes. That artificially boosts his click count, and he uses those numbers to market himself to advertisers.
To me, that is fundamentally dishonest, so I don’t feel the least bit guilty about blocking all of his ads.
I found this site via Lucianne’s site when it posted a link to the research Buckhead did. I came here more or less full time when I got banned for a non-polite opinion there.
I first came to Free Republic off of a Drudge Link in late 1996. But as I remember it wasn’t a direct link. I clicked on a link for an article by Patrick Buchanan that was featured and that link brought me here. I’ve been here ever since.
I found FR back in 1998 during the Clinton bombing of Kosovo. It was great to find a place of like-minded conservatives who were appalled that we took the Muslime side during the Kosovo war.
I started with Lucianne, not knowing about FR. When I discovered FR, I never went back. I experienced all elections since 2000 here on this site. My most memorable event was 9/11.
