A Jones County family experienced a nightmare come true when a rattlesnake slithered up inside their toilet last week.

Big Country Snake Removal says the family contacted them after finding the adult snake in their toilet.

When officials arrived on scene, the company investigated the property and found 24 rattlesnakes total in the family’s storm cellar and under the house. Five were babies and the rest were adults.

Ours was merely run into the old storm cellar out at the old family farm so to be expected.

Numerous people have reported finding possums in their toilets...

These guys can crawl up the pipes the same way a rat or squirrel can, making rodents the most likely animals to wind up in your toilets.

A Possum is a *Marsupial*, not a rodent. It has a pouch for its young like a Kangaroo.

Snakes have their place in the world.

That place is not in a toilet.

...old storm cellar...

Well, I certainly hope you replaced and retired it, before repurposing it...

True story...when I was about five years old in 1961 I went to the bathroom one day and as I was sitting on the toilet I felt something tickling my butt. I jumped up off the toilet seat and there was a squirrel in the toilet bowl. I ran to tell my mother there was a squirrel in the toilet and she laughed...didn’t believe me. She finally came to look and saw I was telling the truth. She called a neighbor and he came over with a burlap sack and he held it next to the toilet and then flushed...the squirrel jumped right into the burlap sack.

We still laugh about this and the funniest thing was the neighbor...you’d think he’d done that a hundred times because it all happened so efficiently.

There are few advantages to living in colder climes but avoiding this might be one of them.

Samuel Jackson is a flaming lib. Nevertheless, I congratulate him for his sense of humor and courage for starring in that movie. Indeed, I’d like to have a beer with him to talk about it.

There are NO venomous snakes currently living in Maine. Wicked good.

But don’t come here. Flatlanders are not welcome.
