It's probably just a little comedic relief, but you never know.
Rob Schneider, the lovable funny man, has penned his bid on Twitter that is to purchase the beleaguered San Francisco 49ers from current owner and CEO Jed York.
"Dear Jed York," Schneider wrote. "There is a chance for change at the top! I will put together a consortium of buyers. Please sell me the 49ers."
The San Francisco native and longtime fan of the football franchise then elaborated on his plan to overhaul the struggling organization. Steve Young, the Hall of Fame quarterback who piloted the 49ers to a Super Bowl title in 1995, would be Schneider's pick for general manager.
York and the 49ers recently canned general manager Trent Baalke and head coach Chip Kelly after a dismal 2-14 season. Disgruntled fans have called for York to hand over his duties as well, but the front office leader says is staying put.
"I own this football team, and you don't dismiss owners," he said during a recent press conference.
Ask Marge Schott about that.
I thought the same thing. Or the guy from the Clippers.
The nfl is badly failing. It is way out of diversity in players. I don’t watch and will never watch until casperdick is jailed for treason. Who cares about a bunch of steroided up thug leftists?? I am OUT! Cowboys are not my GOD!!
Switch to being a Green Bay Packers fan! All are welcome - and ‘We The People of Wisconsin’ own the team.
Playoff against the Giants this coming Sunday. Life Is Good. :)
A game played by men of low character. They don’t call it the National Felons League for nothing.
I take it that was a shot at Patt Tillman, who died serving his country in Afghanistan?
What makes you so great that you get to slam someone like Pat Tillman?
York = trust fund punk.
The 49ers are dead to me.
York’s attitude is the exact reason this team will not win more than six games in a season until he is gone. I understand Eddie D’s desire to keep the team somewhat in the family, but I’ll bet he is kicking himself that he didn’t just sell it outright to a stronger ownership group.
There is also Joe Cardona (Patriots, U.S. Navy), Alejandro Villanueva (Steelers, U.S. Army), Mike Anderson (Denver, U.S. Marines), Glen Coffee (49ers, U.S. Army), Chad Hennings (Dallas, USAF).
Joe Cardona serves one day a week at the USNA during the season, and full time active duty during the off season.
Please don’t paint with such a broad brush. There are many patriotic men who served our nation in uniform who also play in the league, and some still serve our country as reservists.
