Christ Our Morning Star
O Christ, our Morning Star,
Splendour of Light Eternal,
shining with the glory of the rainbow,
come and waken us
from the greyness of our apathy,
and renew in us your gift of hope.
Amen.
Bede the Venerable

Our little Bongo swallowed a plastic wine cork last night. We've been up since 4:00AM watching him and waiting to call our vet. We reached the vet tech at about 9:15 and she advised us to watch him for signs of lethargy and feed him mashed potatoes to see if it will pass. Otherwise, he will probably need surgery. Mr. t is out at the market to buy a bag of potatoes right now.

Oh my! Our dogs have swallowed several things over the years but not a wine cork! Our first Doberman, a true knucklehead, would swallow anything. He downed a 22 inch choke chain one day when he was half grown. That cost 350 dollars (1992 money) to cut him open and get it out of his intestines. More organic things he swallowed and got rid of naturally included socks which we would pull from his considerable jaws like he was a lion in a circus, and he ate a pair of granny panties once (mine, but I was only in my 20’s) and threw those up in the back yard. A vet at the time, told us Dobermans are famous for swallowing stuff, even whole dish towels, which never happened to us.
Best of luck on a natural passage of the cork. Sure is cheaper that way!

Thanks! He is keeping us very busy, as expected.

Trial by Fire
March 29, 2017
Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life.
James 1:12
Last winter while visiting a natural history museum in Colorado, I learned some remarkable facts about the aspen tree. An entire grove of slender, white-trunked aspens can grow from a single seed and share the same root system. These root systems can exist for thousands of years whether or not they produce trees. They sleep underground, waiting for fire, flood, or avalanche to clear a space for them in the shady forest. After a natural disaster has cleared the land, aspen roots can sense the sun at last. The roots send up saplings, which become trees.
For aspens, new growth is made possible by the devastation of a natural disaster. James writes that our growth in faith is also made possible by difficulties. Consider it pure joy, he writes, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything (James 1:24).
Its difficult to be joyful during trials, but we can take hope from the fact that God will use difficult circumstances to help us reach maturity. Like aspen trees, faith can grow in times of trial when difficulty clears space in our hearts for the light of God to touch us.
Thank You, God, for being with us in our trials, and for helping us to grow through difficult circumstances.
Trials and tests can draw us closer to Christ.
James says trials will reveal whether our faith is genuine (James 1:3), and will strengthen and mature us (v. 4). The apostle Paul also believed that suffering is beneficial. He said, we can rejoice . . . when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment (Rom. 5:35 nlt). Read James 1:12 and consider whats in store for those who endure testing through faith in Jesus.

~Welcome To Warm Fuzzy Wednesday~
At Amy's Place
The First Bluebird
By James Whitcomb Riley
Jest rain and snow! and rain again!
And dribble! drip! and blow!
Then snow! and thaw! and slush! and then
Some more rain and snow!
This morning I was 'most afeard
To wake up when, I jing!
I seen the sun shine out and heerd
The first bluebird of Spring!
Mother she'd raised the winder some;
And in acrost the orchurd come,
Soft as a angel's wing,
A breezy, treesy, beesy hum,
Too sweet fer anything!
The winter's shroud was rent a-part
The sun bust forth in glee,
And when that bluebird sung, my hart
Hopped out o' bed with me!
Wishing You A Lovely Warm Spring Day
