What Books Did You Get for Christmas?
Self | 12/25/2016 | Self

Some of us LOVE getting books, especially for Christmas. There's something special about unwrapping a book on Christmas morning - and enjoy sharing with others.

I rarely post anything (maybe five articles in 15 years on Free Republic), but thought this would be a good time for book-lovers to share what we received this morning.

One of my top three books that impacted my Christian walk.

Many people do not know the history of Allen Dulles, the first head of the CIA, while his brother John Foster was the Secretary of State under Eisenhower.

Allen was Eisenhower’s main spy in Europe during WWII and was key in recruiting the German Scientists to come to USA after the war before the Russians kidnapped them. In this work he was assisted by a young Army Intelligence Officer who worked as his translator. That assistant’s name was Henry Kissinger.

As head of the Central Intelligence Agency during the early Cold War, Allan oversaw the 1954 Guatemalan coup d’état, Operation Ajax (the overthrow of Iran’s elected government), the Lockheed U-2 aircraft program and the Bay of Pigs Invasion. Following the assassination of John F. Kennedy, Dulles was one of the members of the Warren Commission.

Keep in mind that President Kennedy, after the Bay of Pigs disaster, was quoted as saying, “How could I have been so stupid?” to trust the groups who were advising him, such as the CIA and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Even more damning to the CIA was a reputed quote by President Kennedy that he wanted to “splinter the CIA into a thousand pieces and scatter it into the winds.” (”CIA: Marker of Policy or Tool? survey finds widely feared agency is tightly controlled” New York Times. April 25, 1966.)

Kennedy realized he shouldn’t have kept Dulles on from the Eisenhower years. ... But the Congress reopened the investigation into John Kennedy’s assassination, and they did determine he was killed as the result of a conspiracy.

You put the pieces together... Kissinger was Nixon’s Sec. of State.. Nixon was supposed to win the election, not Kennedy who was not a CIA shill(Nixon was). Kissinger was best friends with Allen Dulles. Kennedy was assassinated and Allen Dulles was appointed to the Warren Commission. Dulles gets Arlan Spector to come up with the single bullet theory and then supported him in his political career as Senator for Pennsylvania.

Spector’s marker was called when he switched parties and supported Obama Care.

Why do you think the puppeteers put George Bush Sr. in as Reagan’s VP when Bush was the former head of the CIA? They were concerned that Reagan was another maverick like Kennedy and needed a back up plan just in case.

Why do you think the Bush presidency was so much like Clinton and Obama? Why do you think they supported Hillary over Trump.

My words of wisdom are that Trump really needs to build a team so big and strong in support of the american people that even if he is eliminated, his mission will continue to completion.

If you look at the historical pattern, Trump really needs to keep his ass safe as he is another Kennedy..

If you really want to understand the world power shifts...

Per Reagan’s speech in support of Goldwater in 1964, the foreign claims against our gold reserves as a result of the gold backed currency were greater than the reserves.

Thus Nixon took us off the gold standard which resulted in super high inflation... remember Nixon’s price freezes.

In order to solve this problem, Nixon, Kissinger and the CIA supported the Arab dictatorships and put the Sha of Iran in power. This allowed Nixon to make a deal with the Arabs to establish the petro-dollar as the new world currency for oil purchases. Nixon just replaced the gold standard with the petro-dollar.

Which was fine as long as we supported the Arab dictatorships. But Carter did not and allowed the Sha of Iran to be dethroned. This caused OPEC to doubt the USA military protections and led to the run away inflation and oil prices under Carter, which Ronald Reagan corrected by assuring the Arabs that he would support them.

The Iraq war was about saving the petro-dollar as Saddam Hussein was selling oil for Euros and Chinese Yen.

Why can’t people see the bigger picture by looking at history....???

At least it wasn’t The Wit & Wisdom Of Walter Mondale.

My 8th grade history teacher brought it in to class back then. Most of us thought it was great. A thick paperback of empty pages.

Several got a little upset. Oh well.

I received approximately 100 +/- comic books from my youngest most from 70’s and 80’s. They were all gaps in my collection (the scamp) and I don’t deserve them. May The Lord bless each and every one of you with his grace this coming year. I wasn’t able to give what I’d hoped this year, so I’m struggling a bit today. God Bless Us Everyone.

You do know who David Talbot is, don’t you?
He is a former editor at Mother Jones magazine, and founder of Salon.com.
Also has a Hollywood / communist pedigree, son of actor Lile Talbot.
Ultra-lefty, pro-Castro, Talbot for decades has been one of the main pushers of the “America-is-always-the-bad-guy” meme.

Our son-in-law has interests in studying the Constitution and Civil War. Went to a fantastic used book store downtown:

1947 text books from Dept of Law at West Poiint on "Constitutional Powers and Limitations" and a beautiful book published in 1912 called "Civil War Through the Camera". I think he was pretty touched😀

*I* got an autobiography about a woman crossing the prairie in the 1880s, a novel about two brothers surviving wartime Poland and one on the Orphan Train. Looking forward to them all!

My daughter got the latest MCAT study guide, thick as a NYC phone book and cost me $108 dollars.

I got Economic Indicators for Dummies and Social Security for Dummies.

I want to point out, however, I am not counting on Social Security, just getting the factoids. I have my own investments for retirement. Which are doing fantastic post-Trump victory and helping to pay for my daughter’s education.

True Story:

Thirty Five years ago, when I first came to Christ, a friend loaned me the book “Ben Hur” by Gen. Lew Wallace. I already loved the movie, but the book was wonderful. I read it, returned it, and lost touch with the friend. For 35 years I have searched book Stores, Yard sales, and thrift shops to find that book.

This Christmas, I found it in a thrift store, hardcover, pen and ink illustrations on every page, color plates throughout, and it looks as though it had never even been opened or read.

For $2.99.

Of course, I could have downloaded it from the Internet, but this was MUCH better!

Merry Christmas! :-)
