BTW, I understand that many people denigrate W/10, but i appreciate being able to have it, and with some tweaks i find it to be an improvement over W/7/8, though it needs to put the display options XP had back.
So before the criticism start, I would recommend to such that they first install Classic Shell , and also Right Click Context Menu Extender so you can add things it may take longer to find
Besides more details customization apps like AutoHotKey, the White-Tiger/T-Clock is a nice improvement over the standard Widows clock (including showing show seconds).

"
Thank God for such tools and customization, and those that make them. And that includes Firefox, by far the best browser for power users.
I ended up with W/10pro after getting a retail upgrade from XP OEM to Win/8 for 29.00 with a rebate card, and then a free upgrade to 8.1, and then to a new PC (retail allows it), and W/10pro (after replacing the mobo and cpu). But it was a good journey, by God's grace.

I can't stand the incessant updates and reboots and the alerts that pop from the right saying all sorts of crud.
My wife and I were watching Amazon Prime last night and tonight. Last night I was force fed the Anniversary update with many reboots WHILE WATCHING and tonight fed anti-virus and another Windows update with another reboot, which I let shut down, instead.

I like Win10 but probably not quite as much as you.

NEVER sleep on a Wintel O/S. It could be the last thing your PC does.

I recommend balanced. If you use the computer and it’s on AC power it will supply full voltage to the cpu and if you walk away for a bit it will down clock and eventually sleep. Honestly you won’t notice the difference in performance.

"so you can add things it may take longer to find Right Click Context Menu Extender"---- Lopesoft's FileMenu Tools used be be a great program for adding stuff to the right click options until they loaded it with crapware. I use a version from before they added the junk.

if you're looking for a free super-fast program that leaves the native Win search in a dustcloud, then Voidtool's "Everything" is a must-have. https://www.voidtools.com As for Win 10 itself - never. Right now I'm using a version of Linux called "Zorin", running the entire OS from just a USB stick. When Win 7 becomes unsupported, I'll drop Win entirely.

Win 7 here... probably till the day I die.

When I start my machine I go straight to update and get that out of the way. The Surface is fast but my 2009 Toshiba is slow. I have a Windows 10 phone and it updates just like the Surface, only faster, because it is faster.
