NEW YORK (AP) The late rapper Tupac Shakur and Seattle-based rockers Pearl Jam lead a class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees including folkie Joan Baez and 1970s favorites Journey, Yes and Electric Light Orchestra.
The rock hall, in downtown Cleveland, also said Tuesday it would give a special award to Nile Rodgers, whose disco-era band Chic failed again to make the cut after its 11th time nominated.
Baez will be inducted only months after her 1960s paramour, Bob Dylan, was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Rap is crap.
What's next, Buddy Holly being inducted to the Hip Hop Hall of Fame?
“Tupac Shakur ...Pearl Jam ...Joan Baez ...Journey, Yes and Electric Light Orchestra”
Wow, what a mixed bag.
Finally Yes get in.
Always loved there stuff. Loved Steve Howe, great master of the guitar and Wakeman one of the greatest talents on he keyboard in rock.
Tupac Shakur hasn’t been Roundabout much lately.
“Rap is crap.”
You have a greater appreciation of it than I do it seems!
All suck.
Sorry to be vulgar.
Amen brother....
It’s only a mixed bag because Tupop is on that list. I’m sure he was wonderfully talented but his genre was not rock or anything like rock. It is possible that there are not enough actual rock fans so they are trying to broaden their market.
The place has lots of cool memorabilia, but long ago became a joke by going PC as to who got in. It most certainly is not a “rock and roll” HOF any more.
Yes and ELO I’m good with.
He went to the south side of the sky.
unreal it took them this long to induct Yes...
unreal they are inducting tupak...
unreal the Moody Blues are still on the outside looking in...
Joan Baez never struck me as a rocker. Bob Dylan was a contemporary of the Beatles and wrote songs (as the Beatles did) for other acts to record (you keep getting the publishing but you can get more “songs” on the radio because you aren’t the only one singing them).
Joan Baez only worked in the same era as these acts. She seemed more similar to Pete Seegar who was decidedly anti-electric guitar and anti-rock.
She has the “right politics” and RnRHoF even shared a criminal justice group’s article celebrating Joan Baez’s HoF award.
The simple truth is they ran out of “rockers” long ago. There’s one that should be in but for some reason has never made it. I’m talking about Johnny Rivers! Once he’s in there’s none left to induct. They’ve actually been grabbing anyone they can find for years.
The Guess Who have yet to be inducted and Joan Baez and Tupac!! What a joke.
(As much as I'd like to take credit for this, I lifted it from another site.)
I say they should’ve waited 20 years to put Tupac in, if at all. There are some rockers who’ve been eligible since day 1, have been performing and are continuing to, and who are dying every day before ever getting a nod.
If 2-pack is still a “big thing” then maybe he has the lasting power to belong in the “hall of fame” (music genres aside).
But the Hall isn’t about contributions or history. It’s about celebrity culture an attention. It’s about false history just as Dick Clark and Rolling Stone were.
