Did I miss something? Is there a linky?

Visually stunning! The scenes which include any of the space craft and there are a number of scenes with rarely seen Tie Fighter models, Star Destroyers, an assortment of Alliance ships, X-Wing Fighters and other craft familiar to die hard Star Wars fans from the original 1977 film.

The film makers did a fantastic job recapturing the late 1970s feel and look of the original film. Costumes, sets, space crafts, weapons, even the mustaches (!) were all perfectly in keeping with what we saw in the 1977 film. Pure nostalgia!

Through the wonders of make-up and CGI characters we thought we would never see again after the original 1977 film appear on screen. That alone was worth the film price, but I admit that the CGI is much better for some characters than others.

The story is good, but not great. It does flesh out the 1977 story a bit but adds nothing particularly significant. Those transient characters that come and go generally leave no impression on the storyline that will now in any way shape the story we are all familiar with. I found only one error – at least I would call it an error – with the story line that doesn’t jive with what we have known for 39 years already. It’s at the very end of the film – and I won’t give it away.

My criticisms: Diego Luna, who has been making English language films for at least 14 years, speaks like his mouth is stapled shut. I could NOT hear his dialogue at all for a good portion of the film early on.

Storm Troopers: They still suck as soldiers. They can shoot a rebel two or three times and none of the wounds are mortal. The Stormtroopers get shot once and die instantly. Felicity Jones, who probably weighs 115 pounds, and Donnie Yen’s character who is blind, can knock out Stormtroopers with a baton and a bo staff even when those Stormtroopers are covered head-to-toe IN ARMOR. What good is that armor at this point? The Death Troopers were a bit more impressive, and looked great.

Apparently it didn’t make much of an impression. :)

I thought it was suppose to have something negative about Trump in it.

I was in the Nissan showroom this morning where their 'Rogue' vehicle was working double duty to advertise the Star Wars 'Rogue.'
Anyway, I mentioned to the sales guy about the negative accusation.

Sounds like a great exercise in CGI, so I’ll wait and catch it in re-runs if I remember.

#BoycottStarWarsVII is a Twitter hashtag ostensibly promoting a boycott of the upcoming science fiction film Star Wars: The Force Awakens for being racist toward whites. While the hashtag was widely reported by Internet news media as being an authentic campaign against the movie, many have speculated that it was a hoax campaign engineered to cause widespread outrage.

This felt like a Star Wars movie compared to the Force Awakening. We are given panoramic scenes which was one of the reasons the 1977 film was good. Although this one still did not have the CGI FX scene switching that the first 3 SW movies incorporated. I will say a lot of the people I talked to after the movie was disappointed in the ending though. Darth Vader did not act like Darth Vader nor was he the same size. Although James Earl Jones was still the VO. All in all it was a very visually striking movie that had to fill in a lot of the gaps from the original premise from one line in the 1977 film. To those fans whom do not like the movie, pox on them. This was a far better movie and story line than Force Awakening.

The only thing I have to ask if this is the first in the series of stand alone movies will the casting all be like this? I say this because this interjects PC crap into the story where there was none in the beginning. While the story was good, to go out of their way to make the casting pc and the story line to meet this pc casting is bogus. If one were to look at it this way, the evil old dudes were played by white guys and the group of heroes (save the soldiers of the rebellion but even most of them were not white) were all part of the pc crowd. Strong female lead but white, Hispanic side kick, Asian for comedic relief with a Latino sidekick. This marks a severe departure from the franchise and Disney needs to lose their lawsuit!

The final scene with Vader is worth the price of admission alone.

“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” Promises To Be An SJW Sermon Against White Males

To be truthful, I was unconsciously looking forward to “Rogue One.”  I say “unconscious” because what handful of trailers I saw of it did pique my interest, but movies, and particularly Star Wars, have been so heavily imbued with politics I’ve been conditioned to tune them out completely.  Ergo, it takes a really good trailer, full of action, X-Wings, Death Stars, and AT-AT’s to pierce this conditioning and get me to take note.

While Rogue One’s trailers did manage to achieve this, I also unconsciously noted that the heroes had more colors than a rainbow.  And when this observation was combined with my previous knowledge of how Hollywood, and particularly Star Wars, was going to force a PC narrative into their movies, Rogue One went back on the “meh” list of movies I’ll probably never get around to watching.

Enter Brett White.

If the multi-ethnic, multi-color Reading-Rainbow-Rebel heroes of Rogue One (headed up by a “strong-independent woman™”, BTW) wasn’t a clue as to how there was going to be a political lecture, a blatant statement by one of Rogue One’s writers, Brett White, was:

When I look at the ‘Rogue One’ trailers, I see what I want from America. I see a multicultural group standing strong together led by a rebellious and courageous woman. That’s what we are working towards, and what we will continue to work towards no matter what. That’s what America – a land created as a haven for the persecuted, to be able to realize their limitless dreams – was created to be.

Another masculinized feminist leads a multicultural cast against an evil white male empire. Pass. These new SW movies are a step up from the usual hollywood propaganda. The writers and directors are on record several times saying they are using these new Star Wars movies to subtly start pushing feminism and social justice. You can see clear intentional efforts to put in blatant checkboxing scenes and the recent parade of feminist protagonists. Its part of a larger push to politicize scifi. So I’m a little surprised so many selfdescribed conservatives don’t notice/care and are blindly throwing money at this along with the masses of uninformed.

I haven’t been a fan of any Star Wars other than the 1977 offering.

That said, I’ve become overly sensitive to “Girl Power” BS in TV and films, where the 100 pound chick can take out a 300 pound killer with one karate chop, but a 100-pound-chick-bad-guy takes 10 minutes of heavy wrestling to subdue. Insert eye roll.

THAT said, I was immediately irritated upon seeing trailers for this film offering; I see it as a continuation of Girl Power nonsense, and several reviews here confirm it. If you’re seeing it because she’s hot and don’t care otherwise, whatever. Insert eye roll. .... :)

It was filmed almost two years ago. I imagine they did not realize how much they were going to hate him.
