Levin went off the rails and well off into the weeds back before the election - as best I can tell, he’s still way out there frothing at the mouth and should be ignored.

The Secretary of State works for the President. Tillerson is not an autonomous actor. He and the Department of State implement our foreign policy, which is largely hashed out in the NSC along with input from all 17 foreign affairs agencies and approved by the WH.

The idea that SecState is all powerful in the foreign policy arena is laughable. Tillerson serves at the discretion of the President who can fire him at any time. Frankly, the Secretary of State is more of a figurehead than anything else. I say that as someone who served as an FSO for 28 years.

Someone needs to ask the Dems the question about exactly how does Tillerson's personal relationship with Putin impact our foreign policy and national security interests? What can Tillerson do by himself that is so dangerous?

Is Tillerson a democrat?

I haven’t heard one way or the other.

.... Tillerson has spent almost his entire working career working for EXXON Mobil. As the CEO for them he was operating as a very effective Agent and representative of that Corporation, He was required by the shareholders to support whatever was best for EXXON. To do otherwise would have been ludicrous.

.... Heck ... During his tenure ... as with all heads of giant Multinational Corporations ... Of course he garnered ties with the business and political elites .... That's how you get things accomplished in foreign Nations. What was he supposed to do .... Make enemies with them and destroy the Corporation he was sworn to represent? Not to mention that as the CEO of this monolith .... this man has become very adept at the art of extreme industrial sized Tact and Diplomacy when dealing with the Captains of Industry and Leaders of the worlds nations.

.... As the Secretary of State he will now be operating as a sworn agent and representative of the United States Government and everything that entails. His allegiance will then have changed from EXXON to this nation. He will be in a very unique position with his ties and abilities to communicate very effectively the ideas, wishes, goals and policies of our President and this nation.

I was listening to him yesterday also and he was picking on Trump for having Rolls Royce engines in his plane, I guess Trump had them because they are quieter. But Levin was going on and on about the engines made in the IK and not here.
Come on, now we are critical of his planes engines.
Get over it Mark.
MAGA!!!!

Are you saying that the last few administrations had people skilled in statecraft? Were they successful? Are we as a nation, or the world, better off? Looks like you have bought into the idea that only a politician who has lived in a theory bubble all his life can get anything done.

Yes, I’m saying I would prefer Bush’s team to a 35 year old New York real estate executive having an outsized influence on POTUS on foreign policy. I’ve seen reports Little Jared is giving advice on who the Sec. of State should be. POTUS has flippantly suggest he will be his middle east envoy. Jared Kushner is way out of his “league” and has no business near those type decisions.

Are you saying we are better off in Asia after the kenyan’s disengagement? You don’t think the Russians won’t do the same and take as much rope as we give them?

Levin must be on the Glenn Beck diet. (I used to listen to his podcast EVERY day while walking my dog. I miss the “old” Mark ... but I refuse to listen to this “replacement.”)

There are 3 major world players. China, Russia, and US.

Do we want to alienate the other 2 against US ? I suspect a close relationship with Putin could facilitate the end of ISIS, while the strong relationship between Tillerson and Putin would open an avenue by which to help Putin understand the US is not a threat to them, but cannot stand by and watch Russian hegemony in the East.

"Vlad, you know, and I know the US can now supply the world with oil and gas, IF WE SO CHOOSE....in effect, putting you out of business. Wanna' play ball and prosper ? Or not." ---RT

Levin may make some great points, but I can't listen to this guy.

For the life of me, I can't imagine how someone as grating and unpleasant as Mark Levin has a syndicated radio show. This is the equivalent of hiring someone with a speech defect to do radio ads.

It was Romney, too, iirc. Didn’t Romney support gay scouts?

The disconnect with people like Levin is enormous. If a Trump pick is not 100 % perfect in every way from a conservative standpoint, they go nuts. Yet, they supported Romney and McCain and would have supported Jeb if he got the nomination. And any of those people would have nominated a cabinet of establishment hacks 100 times worse than Trumps, and these same people would never have uttered an opposing word!

I understand the concerns about Tillerson, but I also hear thing like Bannon pushed for him, which gives me some confidence, and that his skill set will work well in connection with negotiating oil deals in countries we liberate and in connection with Iran and the Soviets and with China and many other areas of concern. That is what this guy is hired to do, and Trump will make sure he sticks with the program. I hear Trump is not shy about firing people who don't perform.

From about the time of the Iowa caucuses, I would turn him off, usually less than 3 minutes into his nightly anti-Trump rant. After the Republican convention when all of the shadowy NeverTrump finagling behind the scenes was going on to defeat Trump, I quit listening and found an alternative for the 4:00 CT time slot.

It seems more anti-Trump rants are all he has. Who wants to listen to that for the next 8 years? [8 years. Trump and some supporters are already dangingling a 2nd term carrot. :)]
